Chapter 24
Mara arrived at the airport, planning to return to Paris.
This time she wasn’t alone though–Dylan was waiting for her.
Seeing her approach, Dylan’s face immediately showed relief.
“You’re here. Did you get everything sorted out?”
Mara nodded. She’d said what needed to be said and done what needed to be done. If Knox still didn’t get it, she
wouldn’t mind saying it a thousand more times, ten thousand more times.
She waited at the airport for a while, then boarded the plane.
Dylan had bought the tickets–they were in adjacent seats. Watching herself leave this city once again, Mara felt
conflicted. She didn’t hate this city; it just had people in it she didn’t want to see.
She let out a soft sigh. At least everything was finally over for good.
Mara tilted her head and leaned against Dylan’s shoulder. Feeling the man stiffen, she couldn’t help but laugh.
“Let me lean on you for a bit. I’m kind of tired.”
Dylan relaxed himself, trying to make it more comfortable for Mara to rest against him.
“That was rough. It’s painful to cut ties with the past, isn’t it?”
She murmured softly in agreement. “But I got a better future out of it.”
“That’s right. Your future is bright.”
Dylan chuckled softly, and Mara smiled too.
She fell asleep quickly, and when they returned to Paris, she immediately went back to the studio.
Her life seemed unchanged–everything was moving in the right direction, except Dylan was getting more and more clingy, constantly pestering her for some kind of official status.
When the studio reached ten million in revenue, they threw a celebration party, not only to celebrate the studio’s complete success, but also to celebrate Mara no longer being bound by her past.
That day, she had a little to drink, and looking at her colleagues‘ faces, she couldn’t help but feel moved.
Yes, she’d completely moved on.

She picked up her wine glass and drained it in one go.
Afterward, Dylan drove her home.
“I drive you home every single day, and you still won’t give me any official status. You’re not planning to string me along forever, are you?” he grumbled.
Mara couldn’t help but laugh hearing this. She murmured softly in response.
“Fine, I’ll give you official status.”
The man immediately froze.
“You said it, so you have to take responsibility, Mara. If you try to tell me later that you were drunk, I’m gonna say you’re being irresponsible.”
Her smile deepened as she hooked her arms around Dylan’s neck, pulled him down, and kissed those lips.
“I’ll take responsibility for you. Let’s be together–I’m ready now.”
In that instant, Dylan trembled. He’d been waiting for this day for so long.
He’d never told Mara that actually, way back before she and Knox got married, he’d already noticed her. It was just that they met too late–by the time he saw her again, she was already married to Knox, so he could only go abroad to start his business.
Who would have thought that after all the twists and turns, they’d end up meeting overseas, and she was divorced, giving him another chance.
Mara always said he had ulterior motives, but what he feared most was missing his opportunity. Now he could finally relax.
Dylan leaned into her kiss, his voice mock–threatening.
“You made me wait so damn long. Good thing you’re taking responsibility.”
Mara laughed. Yeah, after waiting so long, I’m glad I waited for you.
