The dinner between the Chase Pack and the Warren Pack left everyone severely impacted, with no one spared. Harrison Chase’s blood pressure soared from the shock of witnessing his son Henry kissing his adopted daughter Victoria in front of the Warren Pack. The humiliation and stress sent him straight to the emergency room at Crescent Moon Hospital.
Melanie Chase fainted from the overwhelming combination of witnessing the inappropriate kiss, her son’s head injury from Naomi’s violent reaction, and her mate’s medical emergency. The night became a cascade of disasters for the Chase family.
Henry was left reeling in the aftermath, his head throbbing from where Naomi had struck him with a decorative moonstone. He regretted his impulsive actions and the chaos that ensued, knowing he had destroyed any chance of the Warren Pack alliance.

My mind was jumbled with Victoria’s revelations about Sophia and Dominic’s arrangement. The weight of learning about Samuel Winters‘ death and Sophia’s connection to Dominic pressed heavily on my thoughts.
But Dominic seemed completely focused on something else entirely.
“Dominic, I’m in love with you,” I had said in the parking lot, the words tumbling out before I could stop them.
His reaction was immediate and intense. His blue eyes darkened with something I couldn’t quite identify.
“Say it again,” he commanded, his voice rough.
“What?”
“Say it again. The part about being in love with me.”
I felt heat rise to my cheeks. “Dominic, I’m in love with you.”
“Again.”
“I’m in love with you.”
“Again.”
By the eighth repetition, my voice was barely a whisper. Dominic suddenly swept me into his arms, carrying me toward the car
with determined strides.
“Felix, drive faster,” he ordered as we settled into the backseat./
I was unnerved by his sudden seriousness. He didn’t take my hand or react the way I expected. Instead, he sat rigidly beside me, his jaw clenched and his breathing controlled.
Why wasn’t he saying anything? I had just confessed my love, and he was acting like he was heading into battle.
The silence stretched between us, making me second–guess everything.
Upon arriving at our bedroom, I was immediately pulled into a passionate kiss that left me breathless and disoriented. Dominic’s hands were everywhere, urgent and possessive, as if he was trying to claim every inch of me.
Before I knew it, I found myself in bed, feeling vulnerable and exposed beneath his intense gaze.

“Why didn’t you say anything in the car?” I demanded, my claws partially extending as I scratched his back in frustration. “I confessed to you, and you didn’t say a word, no reaction at all. What are you thinking? Just tell me straight!”
Dominic’s lips curved into a peculiar smile. “Are you sure I didn’t react?”
“What do you mean?”
He leaned close to my ear, his breath hot against my skin. “I was hard the entire car ride home. That’s why I couldn’t move or speak properly.”
My face burned with embarrassment. I bit his shoulder, annoyed at his crude honesty.
“Stop talking,” I mumbled against his skin.
Afterward, Dominic lit a cigarette, the orange glow illuminating his sharp features in the darkness. I was nestled in his arms, feeling drowsy but oddly restless.
On impulse, I snatched the cigarette from his fingers and took a puff.
The harsh smoke immediately sent me into a coughing fit. Dominic quickly took the cigarette back, rubbing my back as I struggled to breathe.
“That was stupid,” he said, but his tone was amused rather than angry.
“Make me some moonlight tea,” I requested, still trying to clear my throat.
“It’s past midnight.”
“I don’t care. I want tea.”
Dominic sighed but got up anyway. “You’re becoming very demanding.”
I watched him move gracefully around the kitchen, his movements precise and elegant even in the dim light. The way he measured the special herbal blend and heated the water was almost hypnotic.
When the tea leaves hit the hot water, they unfurled vigorously, dancing and swirling in the clear liquid.
Dominic chuckled, watching the display. “Just like you.”
I understood his suggestive comment immediately. My face heated again as I playfully pinched his leg.
“You’re an old pervert,” I accused.
Dominic laughed, a rich sound that made my heart skip. He carried me back to the room, his arms strong and secure around me.
“Yes, I’m an old pervert, and you’re a little pervert,” he said, his voice warm with affection. “The old pervert loves the little pervert.”
I stared at him in surprise. Was this his confession?
I woke up the next day at noon, sunlight streaming through the curtains. My phone showed several missed messages, including one from Naomi Warren.
Her message was simple: “Amber, I’m sorry about last night. Can we meet for lunch? I’d like to explain.”
Initially, I thought of simply replying “It’s nothing,” but then I reconsidered. This could be an opportunity to help Lucas, who had harbored feelings for Naomi for years.
I decided to invite him to join our meal.
“I’m free anytime, you pick the time,” I replied to Naomi.
Just as I sent the message, my phone rang. Henry’s name appeared on the screen.

Without hesitation, I had Florence Harper pack some nutritional supplements and venison jerky. Jared Stone drove me to the hospital, his usual stoic expression showing concern.
I found Harrison’s secretary giving him a report about pack business, trying to maintain normalcy despite the circumstances. Melanie lay with her eyes closed, looking pale and fragile. Henry slumped in a chair, his face drawn with exhaustion and guilt.
Observing their defeated expressions, I felt a surge of satisfaction
“Oh, everyone’s here,” I remarked cheerfully, deliberately scanning the room. “But where’s Victoria?”
The silence was deafening.
“Old Chase, where’s your most capable daughter?” I continued, my voice dripping with false concern. “Why hasn’t she come to see you?”
Harrison’s chest visibly tightened with anger, his face reddening.
I turned to Melanie, who was now watching me with barely concealed fury. “Mother, where’s your most thoughtful little cotton jacket? You’re in the hospital, and she hasn’t even come to see you.”
Melanie looked like she wished she could faint again to escape this conversation.
Henry, seeing my gaze shift to him, quickly stood and took my arm “Let’s talk outside.”
In the deserted hospital hallway, Henry’s face was stern as he confronted me.
“Victoria said you called Mom,” he demanded. “Why did you do that? Haven’t you caused enough trouble for this pack?”
I remained silent, pulling out my phone and finding the recording I had made of Victoria’s confession.
“Very angry, aren’t you?” Victoria’s voice played clearly through the speaker. “When I first found out you mated with Dominic, I was so angry I couldn’t speak, just like you are now.”
Henry’s face went white as the recording continued.
“He won’t let me go, but so what? Your brother will protect me, no matter what I do wrong or who I offend, your brother will stand up for me.”
I stopped the recording and looked directly at Henry, watching the realization dawn in his eyes.
“Men understand men, women understand women,” I began, my amber eyes flashing with cold determination. “From a woman’s perspective, let me explain what those two sentences mean.”
I took a step closer, forcefully poking his shoulder.
“The first sentence, ‘I was so angry you mated with Dominic,‘ means she wanted to be marked by Dominic, not you.”
Henry’s face crumpled as the truth hit him.
“The second sentence, ‘no matter what I do wrong or who I offend, your brother will stand up for me,‘ means you’re her loyal lapdog. No matter how much she misbehaves, you’ll still help her.
I continued, my voice hardening as my wolf Cora growled beneath the surface.
“Henry, I told you, I tolerated you before because I didn’t want to ruin you. You know how much Grandma Eleanor hoped you’d take over the Chase Pack’s business empire, don’t you?”
His shoulders sagged with the weight of disappointment and betrayal.
