“Freddy,” Sylvia snapped, “stay out of my business.”
Although Freddy had dealt with the two drunkards for Sylvia, she remained unappreciative.
Sylvia pressed Freddy to name Joanna as the mastermind, but he stubbornly kept his mouth shut.
After driving away the drunkards, Freddy wordlessly walked to the entrance of the pasta house. He plopped down on the steps and began wolfing down the bread in his hand.
After paying, Sylvia left the pasta house. Freddy tucked away the rest of his bread and quietly followed after her.
Sylvia spun around and snapped, “Freddy, if you won’t expose Joanna, then stop following me.”
Freddy gave a vague grunt in response, avoiding Sylvia’s gaze as he pretended to casually observe the passersby on the street.
But the moment Sylvia took a step forward, Freddy was right behind her again.
Sylvia stepped into a stationery store and picked up some school supplies for Zack and Ruby.
Just as she was about to pay, Freddy stepped in and settled the bill before she could.
Freddy had no idea how to repay Sylvia for her kindness, so paying for her things was the only way he knew.
“Freddy, take your money back,” Sylvia said, frowning.
Sylvia knew Freddy wanted to repay her, but she didn’t need it. All she wanted was Joanna brought to justice.
Refusing to take the money back, Freddy strode straight outside and stationed himself quietly nearby, waiting for Sylvia to come out.
Helpless, Sylvia had no choice but to walk out of the stationery store with the stationery in hand.
Freddy was already strapped for cash, and now he’d spent another chunk of it. Yet he stood at rigid attention, his sharp eyes scanning the surroundings vigilantly, ever watchful for any potential threat to Sylvia.
That evening, Sylvia drove over to the Colon residence and prescribed several herbal remedies for Wade,
After hastily donning a disguise, Freddy quietly followed Sylvia to the Colon residence.
Wade was gradually recovering. Although he remained frail, his spirits were noticeably improving.
Wade always pretended to be in a vegetative state in front of his family, only revealing his true self when Freddy and Sylvia were around.
Lying in bed, Wade looked at Freddy and said earnestly, “Freddy, you must never forget what Ms. Sullivan ha
e for our family.”
“I understand, Dad.” Freddy gave a firm nod.
Meanwhile, downstairs, Sylvia was carefully simmering the herbal medicine.
Once the herbal medicine was ready, Sylvia personally brought it upstairs and administered it to Wade.
After administering the medicine, Sylvia went downstairs to give detailed instructions to Tamid and the other family members on how to properly simmer the herbal medicine and the correct dosage schedule.

Tamid rolled his eyes impatiently. “Dad’s basically in a vegetative state. What’s the point of giving him medicine anymore?”
“Just put the medicine in his mouth. He’ll swallow it naturally,” Sylvia said coolly. “Only by taking it consistently can he survive, unless you want him to die early.”
When the Colon family heard that Wade would die without his medicine, panic set in and everyone began listening intently.
The longer Wade lived, the more chances they had to find his will.
After finishing his conversation with Wade upstairs, Freddy readjusted his mask and other disguises before heading downstairs.
Sylvia soon departed the Colon residence with Freddy in tow.
Sylvia was the first to get in the car and drove off, but when she caught sight of Freddy’s motorcycle tailing her in the rearview mirror, het brows knitted in irritation. She abruptly pulled over to the side of the road.
“Freddy, what the hell do you want? Why are you still following me?” Sylvia demanded, flinging the car door open, her voice sharp with irritation.
Freddy rode his motorcycle up next to her, avoiding eye contact. “What? Me, following you? Nah, we’re just headed the same direction.”
Sylvia crossed her arms,
her expression cold. “Then you go first.”
Freddy twisted the throttle and roared off on his motorcycle.
Only after watching his retreating figure disappear into the distance did Sylvia finally restart her car.
Half an hour later, as Sylvia pulled up to her doorstep, she instinctively glanced toward the street corner only for a painfully familiar figure to catch her
eye.
Leaning against his motorcycle, Freddy bows his head, taking a bite of an apple as the streetlamp casts a dim yellow glow over him.
To her surprise, Freddy had actually beaten her back home. Sylvia sighed helplessly and stepped inside. She thought, ‘I’m home now. Surely he’ll leave, right?‘
Sylvia peered quietly through the window, only to see Freddy had absolutely no intention of leaving. He sat cross–legged beneath the streetlamp, his lonely silhouette stark against the night.
Sylvia yanked the curtains shut, her irritation mounting. ‘How can anyone be this stubborn?‘ she fumed inwardly.
Just then, Byron’s call snapped her out of her thoughts. “I’ll be there shortly to pick up Zack.”
Zack had been staying with Sylvia these past few days, and Byron couldn’t shake the feeling that if this continued, she’d completely win their son over.
He expected Sylvia to refuse, but to his surprise, she deliberately sighed into the phone, “Alright then, come get him. I haven’t really had time to spend with him these past few days anyway.”
“What have you been up to lately?” Byron asked curiously.
Sylvia had anticipated his question, a mischievous/glint flashing in her eyes. “What else? It’s all because of Freddy. I’ve been spending all my time with him these past few days.”
“Where’s Freddy now? Still with you?” Byron blurted out, his tone laced with barely concealed jealousy.
“Yep, right downstairs at my place,” Sylvia replied, the mischievous glint in her eyes deepening.
Sylvia thought, ‘Freddy insists on staying, 1 have to do something.’

Chapter 168
The moment Byron heard Sylvia’s words, a wave of jealousy washed over him.
‘To think Sylvia has been with Freddy all this time. And now–when it’s already so late, he is still camped outside her place Byron’s jaw tightened at the thought.
Sylvia said offhandedly, “Freddy’s actually not a bad guy. If you get the chance, maybe you could show him the ropes.”
Byron was burning with jealousy. This was the first time Sylvia had ever asked him for anything, and it was for another man.
He hung up with an icy expression, his handsome features frozen in fury. Without missing a beat, he barked downstairs, “Get the car ready?
In no time, Byron’s car pulled up outside Sylvia’s apartment building. The moment he arrived, his gaze instantly locked onto Freddy, sitting cross legged under the streetlamp.
The moment Freddy spotted Byron, he sprang to his feet.
Ever since Byron taught him a lesson last time, Freddy had developed a deep fear of Byron. ‘If I can’t afford to mess with him, I can at least just steer clear,‘ he thought anxiously.
“Freddy,” Byron said coldly as he strode up behind Freddy and clapped him heavily on the shoulder. “What, trying to run off the moment you see me?” “Mr. Blair,” Freddy frowned deeply, his voice tight with forced bravado despite the nervousness gnawing at him. “Did you need something from me?” Byron’s piercing gaze locked onto Freddy, his deep–set eyes chillingly intense. “You’ve been with Sylvia these past few days?”
His tone was unreadable, yet it carried an undeniable weight of authority.
Freddy’s eyes darted away as he avoided Byron’s gaze. “So what if we’re together? None of your damn business.”
‘I’m only following Sylvia because I’m worried about her safety. I don’t have any ulterior motives,‘ Freddy thought, feeling wronged.
Upon hearing this, Byron’s face darkened instantly, ‘How dare this guy brazenly flaunt being with my ex–wife right to my face? This’s an outright challenge,‘ he wondered.
Byron gave Freddy no chance to resist, forcefully pinning him against the lamppost. His hand came down mercilessly on the younger man’s backside, again and again, the sharp smacks ringing out, startlingly loud in the dead of night.
Sylvia rushed out of the house, deliberately putting on an anxious act as she shouted, “Byron, why are you hitting Freddy? He’s such a good guy. Let him go.”
Freddy heard Sylvia and couldn’t help but feel something was off. ‘Something’s off,‘ he thought. ‘Wait? Is she actually trying to help me, or is she just deliberately provoking Byron?‘
True enough, hearing Sylvia plead for Freddy only made Byron’s expression grow even darker. His strikes came down harder, each one landing with renewed vengeance.
