Dwayne remained unfazed, taking a sip of his drink without batting an eye after she uttered the words “not familiar.”
At the party, everyone else was speculating about their relationship, but unfortunately, to no avail.
Dorothy was about to leave when Tyrell put down his glass and walked out of the crowd. “Dorothy, you are so careless. But it’s okay, if Mr. Lambert doesn’t mind, I’ll compensate you for this dress.”
Dorothy looked at him in surprise.
Dwayne wiped his collar and smiled lightly, “Oh? Is Mr. Calhoun really doing it for her?”
“Why did Mr. Lambert say this?” Tyrell replied nonchalantly, “Dorothy and I are old acquaintances, isn’t it reasonable for me to take care of her a bit?”
He swirled the wine in his glass, “What if I don’t want to?”
Tyrell poured himself a drink and said, “Mr. Lambert is so persistent, could it be that he has taken a liking to Dorothy?”
Dorothy remained silent as she looked at him.
Dwayne laughed, with a smile that was somewhat indistinguishable, “Are you kidding?”
Dorothy’s face only slightly froze.
In the blink of an eye, he turned his expressionless face away.
“It turns out it’s not.” Tyrell pretended to suddenly realize, “Also, I heard that Mr. Lambert’s rumored girlfriend is the director of Dewbury Medical Center. I wonder when the two of them will announce their engagement.”
“Did Mr. Lambert have a girlfriend? Is it true or false?”
“Earlier, there were rumors that Mr. Lambert’s ex–girlfriend had returned to her home country, most likely it was her.”
“Mr. Lambert was a loyal person.”
The people around chatted incessantly, every word of praise about his ex–girlfriend entered Dorothy’s ears without exception.
Even though she didn’t want to listen.
Dwayne did not explain, his gaze lingering on Dorothy, he set down his glass with a meaningful look, “There is good news, and I will inform everyone in due time.”
Others congratulated in advance.
Dorothy left the bustling crowd, Keith noticed and followed after her, “Are you okay?”
She shook her head and smiled, “It’s okay, I just don’t really like crowded places.”

“Dorothy,” Tyrell brought dessert to coax her, completely ignoring Keith as a stranger, “I got this for you from the children’s area in the restaurant, kids really like to cat it.”
“I am not a child again.”
“In my eyes, you are.”
Tyrell handed the dessert to her.
Dorothy was stunned for a moment, successfully amused, took the dessert, “Thank you.”
Keith looked at the flashy tricks, with a slight frown on his brow, inexplicably feeling like his own cabbage was about to be eaten by a pig, “Mr. Calhoun is quite good at coaxing women.”
“Isn’t it enough to make Dorothy happy?”
Keith turned to Dorothy and said, “Smooth–talking men are not suitable for you.”
“I think introverted men are not suitable for her at all!”
Dorothy looked extremely embarrassed, “Mr. Wexley, Tyrell, um… I’ll just go to the bathroom first.”
She put the unfinished dessert on the table and made an excuse to go out for some fresh air.
Passing through the banquet hall lounge, a hand grabbed her arm and pulled her inside.
Before she could come to her senses, the man turned her around and pressed her against the door, embracing her from behind, burying a deep chuckle in the hollow of her shoulder, “Are you so impatient, eager to find a man?”
Dorothy stiffened, furrowing her brow, “Am I looking for a man related to Mr. Lambert?”
“Are you trying to ruin the reputation of the Lambert family again?”
Without waiting for Dwayne to answer, she continued, “We were secretly married, and besides those close to the Lambert family, who else present would know?”
“Go on,” Dwayne’s lips and nose lingered on her skin, his voice husky, “Maybe I’ll believe it.”
Dorothy nudged him with her elbow, “Dwayne, are you crazy?”
Dwayne didn’t give her any room to push him away, cupping her cheeks, he kissed her without warning, easily breaking through her closed lips, the strong taste of alcohol invading.
