Chapter 364
The next day, Aria met Rowan at a restaurant near the hospital.
He held the cup handle and looked at her. “Do you have any other evidence of Seraphina’s child abuse?”
Aria shook her head. “No more.” She stirred her coffee. “Those scars were obviously accumulated over time, wounds from accidents wouldn’t appear in the same spot multiple times, only from deliberate actions.”
“I might not be able to find out, after all Seraphina is too cautious, she wouldn’t leave any evidence.”
Aria was stunned, then nodded. “Yeah, she really is a cautious person.”
Otherwise, how could she have done so much and still not been found out by others?
No… Something was wrong.
If it happened once or twice, maybe Seraphina was just lucky. But every time without any solid evidence pointing to her, even the surveillance footage was incomplete, it’s just too much of a coincidence.
Can she do this alone?
“Don’t worry,” Rowan said, placing his palm on her hand and smiling deeply. “I will find a way to check for you, it just takes
time.”
Aria froze, her gaze falling on his hand, awkwardly pulling back. “Okay.”
Rowan looked at her hand that she had taken back, with a slight smile, and calmly withdrew his hand without saying anything.
At that moment, his phone on the table rang.
The caller ID showed “Helen“.
Rowan hesitated for a moment, then hung up the phone.
“Didn’t answer?” Aria wondered, but she didn’t know who was calling him.
He smiled and put away his phone. “It’s just an unimportant call.”
He clenched the vibrating phone again, feeling conflicted inside.
But he knew he couldn’t answer that call./
The better Helen treated him, the more she trusted him, and he would more soften up towards Aria and her mother.
What he wanted was Kane has a “weak spot,” not creating a “weak spot” for himself.
Even if he might have liked Aria
But he still chose the pack over Aria.
– Man Caddast
They didn’t stay long, then they left separately.
Aria had just sat in the car when Helen called her and asked, “Why didn’t Alpha Rowan answer my calls? I tried calling him several times, is he busy?”
Aria was stunned. “When did you call?”
“Ten minutes ago.”
Aria suddenly remembered Rowan hanging up the phone, and she asked him at that time, “Why didn’t you answer?”
“I was at Charlie’s hospital room, thinking if Alpha Rowan wasn’t busy, he could come pick me up. Am I bothering him by always asking him?”
Helen’s words made Aria’s heart ache a little.
After Gabriel passed away, Rowan did help them a lot. In the Helen’s heart, Rowan was like a son, but she forgot that they were just strangers to Rowan.
He helped the mother and daughter just out of kindness, but not his duty.
Aria pursed her lips.
In the end, she realized she was so naive. In this world, besides her parents, there’s no one else who would unconditionally agree to help her.
She came to her senses and said, “Mom, Rowan is very busy. Let’s not bother him in the future.”
