Kane took the documents, two full pages of testimony. He read through them without changing his expression, and didn’t say anything.
The evidence of intentional harm was insufficient, so the police station quickly released the person.
Seraphina walked out of the police station and saw Kane standing in front of the car, smoking.
Behind the white smoke was the man’s extremely gloomy face.
“Kane…” Seraphina’s eyes were red and teary. “I really didn’t know this would happen, I’m so
scared.”
“What were you doing at Shadowbite Medical?” He flicked off the ash, his eyes piercing through her like a sharp sword.
Her expression froze for a moment. “I… I actually just wanted to talk to Alpha Stafford for Selena, and I happened to run into a nurse friend, so we chatted for a while.”
He frowned. “Selena’s relationship with Javier is none of your business.”
“Kane, are you blaming me?”
“Everything about Aria is related to you.” Kane exhaled smoke slowly, his eyes deep. “Seraphina,
sometimes I really wonder if you were involved.”
Seraphina’s body suddenly shook. She stepped forward and grabbed him. “Kane, I didn’t!” she cried. “Just because Charlie kidnapped me, I was there when her father had a heart attack, now you’re going to suspect me of her mother’s death too?”
“If I really wanted her dead, how could I possibly let everyone know I was at the scene? I really
wanted to save her! I could have held on until help arrived, but–she let go of our hands.”
Seraphina choked up for a moment. Her fear was real, her terror was real, her panic was real.
Kane furrowed his brow, and then the hospital called.
“Alpha Ravencrest, Luna, she… wasn’t in the hospital room.”

He flicked the cigarette butt into the roadside trashen. “I’m heading back now.”
Kane got into the car, glanced at Seraphina. “You can take a taxi back by yourself.”
Seraphina watched the car drive away. Her tense expression finally relaxed a bit, but there was still
a hint of unwillingness in her heart.
They’ve known each other for ten years, and he actually doubted her.
He wasn’t like this before.
Helen’s body was taken to the morgue’s cold storage. The staff brought Aria to see Helen and slowly
uncovered the white cloth.
Aria looked at her with obvious scars on her face, her nose was so sore. Her mom fell from a high
altitude, her skull cracked on the spot, and her appearance can be said to be incomplete.
The mortuary beautician spent six hours fixing up Helen, and she looked just like she did when she
was alive.
Aria reached out to touch her hand, it felt like full of cotton, very soft.
“I wanted to stay with her for a while, just ten minutes.”
The staff nodded. “Okay.”
When Aria walked out of the funeral home, the sun shining brightly, but she couldn’t feel the
warmth.
“Aria!” Rowan got out of the car and headed straight towards her. He knew that Helen had an accident, so he immediately dropped everything and rushed over. “Your mom…
Aria reached out her palm, the sunlight shining through the gaps in the floor and reflecting on the ground, as if landing in her hand, but she couldn’t hold on to it.
“I even didn’t have the chance to truly feel a mother’s love for long before she passed away. You see,
life is like this beam of light, visible but elusive.”
Rowan felt a sudden pain in his chest.

Chapter 369
Yesterday…
If he had answered that phone…
“Sorry,” he ended up not saying anything else, just this one word.
Aria casually squeezed out a smile and looked up at him. “Rowan, I appreciate your help during this
time.”
She passed him and left.
Rowan clenched his fists, seemed feeling like once she left, they wouldn’t see each other again.
He turned around and caught up with her, saying, “Aria, I’m really sorry. I didn’t know yesterday-”
Before he could finish speaking, a tall figure suddenly approached, and without waiting for Rowan to react, the person punched him in the face.
