Chapter 2
At 7 p.m., Gavin came home.
He was holding a bouquet of roses.
“Sweetheart, I brought you flowers.”
Ever since we got married, Gavin had made it a point to bring me
flowers roularly.
But even with such a clear display of affection, he still cheated on me.
I didn’t say a word, simply placing the flowers in a vase. Then I watched as Gavin began undressing to take a shower.
Piece by piece, his clothes came off, but the gray boxers were nowhere to be seen.
I didn’t ask. I just sat in the living room reading post–abortion care instructions.
It wasn’t until Gavin came out of the bathroom, wrapped in a towel, and stood behind me.
“Sweetheart, what’s got you so engrossed?”
He wrapped his arms around my waist, pressing soft, lingering kisses along my neck
I forced a casual smile and locked my phone.
“Nothing, just reading up on pregnancy precautions.”
Gavin didn’t press further and kissed the top of my head.
“You’re working so hard, sweetheart.”
“When this little troublemaker comes out, I’ll definitely teach him a lesson!”
Gavin spoke to himself, a playful tone in his voice.
I simply smiled faintly without responding.
It wasn’t long before he noticed something was off.
“Sweetheart, are you hiding something from me?”
His eyes searched mine, as though trying to uncover every secret I held.
Iresponded lazily, “The neighbor downstairs found something of ours again today.”
Gavin immediately looked away, releasing his hold on my waist. He shrugged and said indifferently, “Got it.”
I didn’t let him off so easily and continued, “Do you know what she found this time?”
For a brief moment, his body stiffened, but then he acted as if nothing had happened.
“What was it?” he asked casually.
I didn’t answer directly, instead pointing to a single gray sock.
“Just a sock!”
“What else did you think it could be?”
I clearly saw the relief wash over him.
He turned his back to me, took off his towel, and changed into a gray loungewear set.
Chapt
As he did, my eyes caught the unmistakable rod scratch marks on his back–marks that could only come from a woman with lon mas
But I hadn’t kept my nails long since becoming pregnant.
I said nothing and quietly sat back down on the sofa.
Just then, Gavin’s phone rang
He reached for it with noticeable urgency.
“Is it that urgent? Does it have to be tonight?”
The call was brief, lasting no more than a few seconds.
When he hung up, he turned to me with an apologetic smile.
“Sweetheart, there’s an emergency at the hospital. A patient’s condition is critical, and I need to head over right away.”
As he spoke, he cupped my face with his hand, leaning in for a kiss.
This time, I turned my head away.
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong?”
Gavin’s face was filled with confusion.
I didn’t explain and instead replied impatiently, “I’ve been feeling nauseous all day. Don’t get too close to me.”
Gavin didn’t push further, dropping a kiss on my forehead.
“Sweetheart, go to bed early tonight. I might not come back.”
“I saw on the weather forecast that it’s going to rain tonight. Make sure to turn up the air conditioning temperature.”
With that, he hurriedly began changing into his clothes.
I said nothing, even thoughtfully handing him his car keys.
“Drive safely,” I said.
He hesitated for a moment before grabbing the keys, opening the door, and leaving in a hurry.
Not long after he left, my phone buzzed with a video call notification.
It was from Nicole.
In the video, Nicole was dressed in a revealing red slip dress.
“Hannah, welcome to the live broadcast of me and your husband,” she said with a mocking smile.
I must be the first woman to watch a live stream of her husband’s affair.
I placed my phone on a stand and used another phone to record the screen.
This would serve as evidence for my divorce from Gavin.
After setting everything up, I watched as Gavin, who had just left our home, appeared in the video.
“I told you not to contact me at night. Don’t you understand?”
Gavin’s expression was cold, his left hand gripping Nicole’s face with a hint of irritation in his eyes.
To an outsider, it might seem like he despised her.
But I knew he wasn’t exerting any real force–it looked more like flirting.
Chapter 2
“Gavin, I just wanted to see you. I just wanted to be close to you. I love you so much. How could that be wrong?”
Nicole’s eyes turned red as she lowered her head, nuzzling against Gavin’s fingers.
Her delicate demeanor softened Gavin’s expression.
“I get it. But my bottom line is my wife. I won’t let you hurt her,” Gavin said firmly.
Nicole nodded obediently, then climbed onto his back like a kitten.
“I understand,” she murmured.
“Are you going back tonight?” she asked, clinging to him.
Gavin’s expression relaxed, and he suddenly turned the tables, pinning Nicole beneath him.
From the video, the sound of their entangled voices grew increasingly unbearable.
I turned off the screen and went back to the bedroom.
That night, I couldn’t sleep well, tossing and turning as dreams of my past with Gavin plagued
