10 Chapter 10
“This is the breakup fee Vincent owes me! What right do you have to arrest me!”
He had finally grasped the love he’d desperately pursued in his past life, only to destroy it
with his own hands.
“See? I destroyed that bitch for you. Now, no one can stop us from being together.”
Sophia just stared at him with a hideous snarl.
Sophia was reportedly stopped at the US-Mexico border, where she was screaming at
the top of her lungs:
So, this was Vincent’s true nature-selfish to the extreme.
The Kane Group went completely bankrupt, and the once-glamorous Vincent Kane was
now just another prisoner.
The paperwork was in order, and the evidence was conclusive. The judge ruled on the spot, ordering Vincent to repay me 120 million dollars within three days.
“Vincent Kane, Isabella was so good to you, yet you threw her away just like that. A man like you, so irresponsible, always chasing the thrill of the new-how could I ever entrust my life to you? I would have to be insane.”
He had funded her education, bought her an apartment, and even humiliated me at our
wedding, all so she wouldn’t feel wronged.
Hearing the news, I looked at Alessandro calmly. I didn’t believe for a second it was a
coincidence that the border police had caught Sophia, nor that Vincent had arrived just in
the nick of time.
Another week passed, and the court heard the case regarding Vincent’s debt.
He moved too quickly, too brutally. By the time the border police managed to restrain him, blood was gushing from Sophia like a fountain as she slowly collapsed to the ground. Not
even the fastest ambulance could have staunched the flow.
“Have your men let me go right now! I deserve every bit of this! I gave you three years of
my youth, the best years of my life. Even if you’d hired a prostitute, you would still have to pay, wouldn’t you?”
“Bitch! If you hadn’t seduced me, Isabella would never have gotten angry and left me! If Isabella were still here, she could have helped me through this crisis! This is all your fault!
I’ll make you pay!”
In the end, she died from massive blood loss, her eyes wide open in a final, vacant stare.
“Isabella, surely you can forgive me now?”
In that moment, Vincent completely snapped. He walked slowly toward Sophia, suddenly
plunged a knife into her heart, and twisted it viciously.
As police cuffed him, Vincent was still laughing like a madman.
Vincent made a pathetic escape under a barrage of insults and kicks.
Half a month later, the court sentenced Vincent to life in prison without the possibility of
parole.
When Vincent heard the news, he looked as if he’d been struck by lightning. The woman
he had poured his heart and soul into protecting had, in his most difficult hour, viciously
crushed it.
Sophia had taken advantage of Vincent while he was drunk, making off with the last of
the cash on the company’s books and fleeing, taking the diamond necklace and the damaged “Silver Wolf and Rose” brooch with her.
I wrapped my arms around his waist in return, nuzzling gently against his firm chest. “I don’t blame you. The wicked get what they deserve. They brought this upon themselves.”
Before we could even walk out of the courthouse, another group of creditors swarmed in, cornering Vincent and demanding their money.
“It’s not that I’m ruthless,” he said. “But anyone who has ever hurt you must pay the price.”
Before the court could even seize the Kane Group’s assets, something even more dramatic happened.
As for me, I was boarding a private jet with Alessandro, heading to Las Vegas to begin a whole new life.
When Vincent arrived, his eyes were bloodshot as he asked Sophia why she would do this to him. Hadn’t he been good enough to her?
Finally, Alessandro tightened his arms around me and said apologetically, “Isabella, you won’t blame me for taking matters into my own hands, will you?”
