Jared was in disbelief. Wasn’t the letter from the boutique meant to inform them that the wedding dress was ready?
He ripped the envelope open and saw that the letter was indeed one that indicated the date the wedding dress would be destroyed. The deadline had already passed.
Tina asked tentatively, “Were you unaware of this, Mr. Ford?”
Jared’s breathing hitched. He’d had no idea about this or about Yvonne’s determination. She’d destroyed her wedding dress and made it clear to him there wouldn’t
be a wedding.
Was she serious about breaking up with him? Didn’t she want to wait for him to marry her anymore?
His breathing sped up, becoming laborious. He couldn’t control it as his anger surged. He grabbed the box with the ruined wedding dress and stormed out of the boutique.
When he got into the car, he dialed Yvonne’s number, his fingers stiff. Unfortunately, she’d already blocked him.
“What the hell are you doing, Yvvy?” he exclaimed, unable to accept how things had turned out.
It was only past 3:00 pm, but the sky was dark from the heavy storm clouds. Jared felt smothered by the darkness as he sped home. He called Anthony as he drove.” Yvonne is serious about breaking up with me!”
Even over the phone, Anthony could tell something was wrong with Jared. He stopped the meeting he was in and said, “Maybe Yvonne is just jealous and being coy. Spend a bit more time coaxing her–she wouldn’t leave you!”
“She’s cutting ties with me just like that even though we’ve been together for so many years…” Jared looked at the box with the wedding dress in the backseat.
His emotions were all over the place, and he was so mad that he sounded tense and on the verge of a
a breakdown.
“Shirley and I haven’t crossed the line or even done anything. How can Yvonne not believe me? She quit her job and broke up with me without even talking to me. She decided all of this on her own! I’m going to see her now so I can ask her how she can take things this far!”
“You’re going to see Yvonne now? I’ll go with you so I can help talk some sense into her,” Anthony said. He grabbed his suit jacket and got up to leave the room.
Jared’s breathing became even more labored. He snarled, “I’ve watched Yvonne grow up; I know her like the back of my hand. She won’t and can’t change. I won’t let anything that’s mine break free of my control!”
“Calm down, Jared. Are you driving?” Anthony asked. Just then, he heard the piercing screech of brakes come from the other end of the line. His expression shifted drastically. “Jared!”
A black Maybach crashed into a car coming around a bend at an intersection. Chaos descended upon the scene.
The day after Yvonne officially became Jean’s apprentice, she and Isabel had their studio registered.
“Luminara is a beautiful name; I’ll design a logo for it later. I’ll have to trouble you with keeping an eye on the studio’s renovations for now. Once the workshop in the villa is ready, I’ll have to start learning from Professor Weedle so I can think of new designs.”
It was raining, but Yvonne was protected by an umbrella. Her footsteps were sure and steady.
“That sounds like a great plan, and I’m looking forward to your new designs. We’re going to hit the jackpot soon enough!” Isabel was Yvonne’s biggest supporter.
Yvonne received a call from Anthony when she got back to the villa. He cried, “Hurry up and come to the hospital, Yvonne! There’s been an accident!”
Yvonne asked in panic, “You got into a car crash? Which hospital are you in?”
She hurriedly got back into, the driver’s seat.
“It’s not me. It’s Jared.” He sounded anxious. “He got into a car crash on his way to see you, and he’s really agitated at the hospital. Hurry up and come over.”
Yvonne paused at his words.
