Chapter 10: Entanglement
Now that I thought about it, I had hung out with Felix way more than with other people. Maybe it was because we had looked good together, or maybe it was just how well we had worked together.
On set, we had always been together. Especially during a lingerie shoot, when we posed in super close angles, even Bella blushed while watching.
In private, she asked me how I stayed cool around Felix’s good looks.
I was speechless for a second. Just as I was about to say it was just professional, she cut me off, like she knew what I was gonna say, and said with a hint of regret, “But to be honest, you two have amazing chemistry on set. Sometimes we even wonder if you’re dating… The company doesn’t really mind models dating, so if you two actually…”
I smiled and cut her off, “Let’s focus on career first. I’m not looking to date right now.”
The truth was, not just her. Even I could tell that after playing my “fake” boyfriend last time, Felix seemed to have feelings for me.
At first, I thought it was because he grew up in a foreign country, which made him super friendly to everyone. He would even send me, his partner, a bouquet of flowers sometimes after shoots.
It wasn’t until after a project ended, when he stopped me as I was changing and getting ready to leave, asking if he could pursue me, that I saw the love in his eyes. His affection was straightforward-he’d compliment my beauty, es- pecially the birthmark that made me unforgettable at first sight.
No girl could resist such compliments and advances. But I still declined gently.
Thankfully, he only felt down for a moment before getting his smile back.
Not long after, that afternoon, he suddenly stopped me, saying his contract in America had expired and he would leave that weekend. As a longtime collaborator and the only person who had caught his eye during his years in Amer- ica, could I give him a hug?
Seeing the clear kindness in his eyes, I let him hug me. Then I watched his car drive away.
Just as I was about to leave the underground garage and go upstairs, a car horn blared from the opposite direction.
I looked back and saw Eric leaning against the door of a black Maybach that had just parked there-no idea how long he’d been watching.
“Maddie.” The man stepped forward quickly and took my hand.
I thought he was about to lose his mind again after seeing the scene, but the next second, he firmly placed my hand
below his chest.
Eric’s eyes were red, his voice hoarse. “Maddie, my stomach hurts.”
I froze, my mind instantly pulled back to when I was the stupidest, by just those words.
