Chapter 10
The atmosphere in the interrogation room was depressing.
“Emily, why would you intentionally hurt Sophia?”
The policeman opposite had no patience and tapped his pen on the table.
“There are witnesses and evidence. The victim has been sent to the hospital. She has a miscarriage and could go into premature labor at any time. If you don’t speak up now, it will only put you in a worse situation.”
I stared at a deep scratch on the tabletop without saying a word.
Rebirth, Voodoo Curse.
If I say these words, I’m afraid people will just think I’m crazy.
The door of the interrogation room was wrenched open from the outside.
The light pierced in and I subconsciously turned my head away.
A middle-aged man in a suit walked in, and the policeman who had looked impatient just now immediately stood up and behaved respectfully.
“Mr.Bennett.
”
Lucas followed the man.
As soon as he came in, he looked at me first, then took off his coat and covered me directly, covering me along with the cold handcuffs.
After a few whispered conversations, I was taken out.
The lights in the corridor were blindingly white.
“The formalities have been completed, you can go back first.” Lucas’ voice came from
behind.
I stopped but didn’t look back.
“Thank you, Lucas. But please don’t get involved in this matter anymore.”
“Why?” he asked, “Emily, do you have any difficulties? Is the child in Sophia’s belly related to you?”
I raised my head sharply and looked at him in shock.
How would he know?
Lucas sighed and pulled something out of his pocket.
It’s the blood knot curse.
“I found this thing in Sophia’s coat pocket. My father said that it is attached with a very rare parasitic bacteria that can be transmitted through blood contact. This bacteria will stimulate the mother’s hormones, causing the embryo to grow abnormally and…”
He paused, his voice lowering.
“And it seems to have some kind of…identification. I had someone test the DNA residue on it, and besides Sophia, there was another person.”
“It’s mine, isn’t it?” I asked softly.
Lucas nodded.
“Emily, is Sophia trying to do something to you with this thing?”
I looked at him, and finally, the defense that had been weighing on my heart completely collapsed.
I told him everything about my past and present life.
Including that absurd rebirth, that vicious curse, and those twenty heart-wrenching miscarriages.
I thought he would think I was crazy and look at me like a psycho.
But he didn’t.
He just listened quietly, his eyes changing from shock to heartache, and finally to raging
anger.
“She deserves to die.”
When I finished saying the last word, he squeezed out these three words from between his teeth, and his breath was as cold as ice.
I have never seen him like this. The gentle Lucas now looked like a ferocious beast ready to eat anyone he wanted.
He held my hand tightly and spoke to me word by word.
“Emily, don’t worry. This time, I won’t let her hurt you again. I will make everyone who hurt you pay the price.”
The news from the hospital was brought by Lucas.
Sophia gave birth.
He handed me a glass of warm water and leaned against the wall, his voice revealing an uncontrollable fatigue.
“The situation was very bad. There was heavy bleeding. The baby…could not be saved.”
He paused, as if weighing his words.
“In other words, it’s not really a child at all, just a mass of flesh and blood that can’t be identified. The doctor said she will never be able to have children again because her uterus has been removed.”
