Harold’s tone was condescending, and Yvonne found it uncomfortable.
She couldn’t help but wonder if her earlier blind date with Samuel had set her expectations for how these encounters should go. She’d thought all blind dates would at least be polite like he’d been.
“It’s just a job. I’ve quit now and plan to open my own studio.”
The conversation wasn’t going anywhere, so Yvonne decided to finish her coffee and leave.
“Your own studio? How much are you investing in it? Honestly, a woman at your age shouldn’t focus so much on her career. Finding a suitable man to marry, settling down, and starting a family is real happiness.”
Harold exhaled a cloud of smoke while sharing his thoughts.
Yvonne struggled to maintain her polite smile.
“Everyone has their own perspective. There’s no one–size–fits–all answer. Anyway, Mr. Quillan, I have other things to attend to, so I think we’ll leave it here for today.”
“Let me get your number, Ms. Jamison. We can meet up again when you’re in Jeriton City.” Harold hurriedly pulled out his phone as Yvonne stood up. However, she had a feeling that they might never meet again. Just as she was about to refuse, she caught Jared rushing in from the corner of her eye.,
He walked in just in time to hear Harold’s words, and his eyes burned with intense fury.
“You want her number? No way! Yvonne, I can’t believe you’re actually here on a blind date!”
Seeing her on a blind date in person triggered Jared.
Harold, noticing Jared, instantly felt small in comparison. But he still puffed up his chest and asked, “Who the hell are you? What does our blind date have to do with you?”
“I’m Yvonne’s boyfriend! You’re not needed here, so step aside!”
Jared’s ruthless presence, honed in the business world, intimidated Harold into silence. But he didn’t want to leave.
He’d been on so many blind dates. Now that he’d finally met someone as beautiful as Yvonne, it turned out she had such an incredible boyfriend?
“That’s impossible! My uncle told me Yvonne is single. Who the hell are you?”
Jared’s anger flared up even more as he demanded, “Yvonne Jamison! You asked for a breakup just so you could act single and go on blind dates?”
He couldn’t even fathom the emotions that had driven him to rush here. He’d never imagined that Yvonne, who’d always belonged to him since childhood, would ever go on a blind date.
How could she accept another man?
He could never accept it!
Yvonne had just finished paying her bill when she slowly raised her eyes to meet Jared’s. “How did you find me here? Did you go to my house?”
“That’s not the point. Why won’t you answer my question?”
Jared’s eyes locked onto hers, burning with possessiveness. “You left me, and now you’re secretly going on blind dates? Is this how you treat our relationship? You said you wanted to marry me, but now you’re with someone else?”
A few of the cafe’s staff were peeking at them, gossiping under their breath.
Yvonne couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh.
She looked at Jared and responded to his emotional outburst for the first time.
“Why do you always wait until so much time has passed before questioning things I did in the past?”
Jared’s breath caught in his throat.
“I broke up with you over a month ago. You heard me loud and clear when I said it, and you even agreed to it. So why are you repeatedly denying that now? Jared, stop being childish. Not everything revolves around you. We no longer have anything to do with each other, so stop interfering in my life.”
Yvonne’s voice was gentle, but the words she spoke were resolute.
