“Please wait a moment, Ms. Jamison,” he said. “I’ll notify the marketing department to look for the documents related to the
event.”
“Alright. Thank you, Mr. Feland,” she said politely.
She sat in the lounge, remaining calm even under the scrutiny of the employees around her. She was simply here on business,
after all.
Just then, a woman wearing a skirt suit walked into the lounge with a cup of coffee.
“Long time no see, Ms. Jamison,” she said in greeting “How’s work?”
She was Luther’s secretary, Portia Zimmerman, whom Yvonne had worked with before.
“Hello, Ms. Zimmerman,” she replied. “I’ve actually resigned from my position as Mr. Ford’s secretary.”
She was well aware that Portia had approached her to feel her out.
“Where are you working now, then?” asked Portia. “Mr. Feland has always admired your capabilities, you know. If you were to come work for Feland Group, we’d have opportunities to work together in the future.”
“I’m here on behalf of someone else to request Mr. Feland’s help with some official matters,” replied Yvonne. “I’ll be leaving once it’s been taken care of.”
She had no desire to become involved in the dispute between Luther’s secretaries.
Portia smiled imperceptibly at her response. She had nothing against Yvonne so long as she wasn’t here to become Luther’s third secretary.
After Yvonne had waited for a while, Luther entered the lounge with the relevant documents in hand.
The well–dressed woman trailing after him was his other secretary, Brigitte Blau.
“Sorry to keep you waiting, Ms. Jamison,” announced Luther. “Here’s the information on the cultural events my family organized in the past. If you need anything else going forward, feel free to come to me. You’re welcome here anytime.”
His attentiveness toward Yvonne set off both Portia’s and Brigitte’s alarm bells.
“Thank you for the information, Mr. Feland. I’ll take my leave first, then,” said Yvonne.
She didn’t go out of her way to prove that she wasn’t trying to join Feland Group as Luther’s secretary. Although she couldn’t control how others perceived her, she felt that she’d made her stance very o
clear.
She left with the folder full of documents in hand but unexpectedly ran into Jared on the way out. His sharp gaze was fixed upon her, which made it evident that he was actually here for her.
For a moment, all eyes were on them.
Jared approached her, suppressing the roiling emotions in his heart. His irritation grew when he saw the folder in her hand stamped with Feland Group’s logo.
“Why did you show up at Feland Group, Yvvy? Is Luther trying to peach you?” he demanded, “Can’t you see that he has ulterior motives? He’s gone through so many secretaries in the past few years! He loves collecting women, so don’t give him an opportunity to do that with you!”

She was anxious to get back home so she could go through the documents. She just so happened to see a cab idling outside, so she sidestepped Jared and made a beeline for it.
Hindered by his lack of status at Feland Group, Jared could only witch as she left, his emotions in disarray.
Later that night, Jared had already gotten himself rather drunk before Anthony even arrived at the bar. Anthony, on the other hand, simply wanted to relax after a day’s work.
“Why are you drinking so much, Jared?” asked Anthony. “By the way, Shane seems to be in the area too, so I invited him to
come over
When Shane arrived, Anthony was surprised to see that Luther had tagged along.
Seeing Jared attempting to drink his sorrows away, Luther was reminded of what he’d seen through the company’s surveillance footage earlier in the afternoon.
“Did you visit my office today to meet Yvonne, Mr. Ford?” he asked. “What a pity that she ignored you and chose not to go with you. It looks like she’s really decided to break up with you.‘
“Luther Feland!” Jared roared angrily. “She’s my woman! You have no right to speak her name!”
