I felt a searing pain, like a knife had been twisted in my heart.
The rejection stung, and I could feel the weight of being disconnected from Brad and the pack.
It was like a part of me had been ripped away
But Dax was there, his arms wrapping around me in a comforting hug. “It’s okay, sis,” he whispered. “You’re free now.”%
I took a deep breath, trying to process everything that had just happened. “There’s no going back now,” I said, my voice shaking.2
Dax pulled back and looked at me with pride in his eyes. “I’m very proud of you, Bella. You’re strong and brave.”
I smiled, feeling grateful he was around me at such critical time.
Even though I didn’t have my parents support, I had him.”
I pulled out my phone and blocked Brad’s number. I didn’t want to hear from him again, didn’t want to be reminded of the pain and hurt he had caused me.”
“I’m ready to get out of here,” I said, looking at Dax.
He nodded, and we made our way to the cruise ship.
As we boarded, I felt kind of excited and and free. I was leaving the past behind and starting a new chapter in my life.
As we waited for the ship to take off, I closed my eyes and inhaled sharply and exhaled.”
I could smell the salty air and feel the wind in my hair.
But my peace was short–lived. As I opened my eyes, I saw Brad strolling towards us, an angry expression on his face. “What the heck is he doing here?” I asked Dax, my heart racing with anxiety.”
“How did he find you?” Dax muttered, his eyes narrowing.
Brad’s bodyguards were right behind him, their faces expressionless. As Brad reached us, he scoffed.!
“So, did you think you could run away just like that after everything you’ve done, huh?” he sneered.”
I stood tall, looking him straight in the eye. “I’m done with you, Brad.”
But he just laughed. “No, you don’t get to be ‘done‘ with me. I need an explanation.“}]
Dax stepped forward, his eyes clear with anger. “She’s got nothing more to say to you, man.“}
Brad’s eyes narrowed, his face twisted in a snarl. “And who the hell are you?” he sneered.”
Dax looked at him straight in the eye, his shoulders squared. “I’m her elder brother, and you should be lucky you’re the Alpha, or else I would have punctured your pretty nose for hurting my little sister all these years.”
Brad chuckled, but there was no warmth in his eyes. “Oh, I remember you. You’re Dax, right? The elder brother who ran away overseas all these years?“}
Dax shot him a hard look. “I didn’t run away. I left for something important. Only thing I regret is not protecting my sister from you.“}] Brad snickered. “Well, I’ve already rejected your little sister’s ass, and she’s a lone wolf now. And you have to be careful else you’re going to join her.“}]
Dax laughed, his eyes glinting with amusement. “You think I’m scared? Anyone who hurt my sister is not allowed to be my Alpha or hers.“@
Brad’s face twisted in rage. “You think you can threaten me? I’m the Alpha of the Shadow Wolves Pack.”
“Not anymore. You rejected my sister, and now you’re going to reject me.“}]
And with that, Brad’s face turned red with rage. “I Alpha Brad, reject you, Dax Hale, as a member of the Shadow wolves Pack. Never again would you be found in the territories of the pack.“}
I felt proud of Dax. He had stood up for me, even when it meant going against the Alpha of our pack.
I looked at Brad, a mixture of emotions swirling inside me. “Hope you’re happy?” I said, my voice dripping with sarcasm. “Now we’re both out of your pack, and you can leave us the heck alone.”
Brad laughed cruelly, shaking his head. “Do you think you can survive without me? If you move an inch and follow this ship to God knows where, you’re not going to make it.“}
I rolled my eyes, feeling like slapping him. “You’ve always been so full of yourself,” I spat. “I don’t care about not being in your pack, and most especially in that cage of a tasteless marriage.”}
He took a step closer to me. “Crawl on your knees right now and beg me, maybe I’d take you back,”
I spat on his expensive shoes, the saliva landing with a splat. “I’d rather jump into the sea and swim with the sharks,” I said, exasperated.”
Brad’s face turned red with rage, and he raised his hand to hit me. But Dax intervened, pushing him with so much force that he fell into the water.}
Luck was on our side as the ship had already started moving, and it quickly gained momentum.
Brad’s guards rushed after him to help him. He already submerged out of the water.”
If his looks could kill Dax and I would have been long dead.”
I waved at him with a small, wicked smile. “Good riddance,” I muttered.”
