Eliana had no idea what had happened in this family after waking up. She suddenly remembered Samuel asking her to get salt, so she headed for the kitchen. The cooks saw her and greeted her.
Eliana glanced around casually and asked, confused, “Hey, where’s the head chef?”
“The head chef?” one chef said. “He resigned last night.”
Eliana was even more confused. “He was doing a good job. Why did he resign?”
The chef told her what he’d heard. “I heard his mother suddenly got sick, so he handed in his resignation to Mr.
Russell to take care of her full–time.”
After hearing that, Eliana understood. “I see.”
The chef then asked, “By the way, Mrs. Russell, did you come to…?”
Eliana said, “Oh, I came to get some salt.”
“Just a moment,” the chef said that before grabbing some salt for her.
Soon, Elianá went upstairs with a new pack of salt. “Dr. Wilson, here’s the salt.”
Samuel thanked her and took it to go straight back to his work. Eliana felt it wasn’t right to just stand there watching. She asked, “Do you need help?”
Samuel looked serious. “No, thanks. This is healthy meal. Even a tiny mistake in the ingredients can change its effect.”
Seeing how focused he was, Eliana was in a heavy mood. “Dr. Wilson, you know what illness I have, right?” Otherwise, why would he stay to help her recover?
She noticed Samuel pause and look at her, so Eliana added, “Don’t worry, I can take it. If you don’t tell me, I’ll just overthink.”
“You’re not sick, just weak,” Samuel said, using the excuse he and Theodore had made up the night before. “When you went on that cruise party with Mr. Russell, you went in the water, right?”
Eliana said, “Yeah.”
“So that’s why you feel pain in the belly. You’re not so sturdy, so you shouldn’t stay in cold water too long. Got it?”
said Samuel
“I see,” Eliana said in suspicion. “But when you checked me last night, you said it was about my uterus. Is that also from staying in cold water too long?”
Things were a bit out of control. So, he put down the spoon, crossed his arms, and snorted. “Am I the doctor, or are

you?”

Eliana, seeing he was upset, hurried to say, “Of course you are.”
“So are you going to listen to me or yourself?” Samuel said.
“Alright, alright. I’ll listen to you,” said Eliana.
Samuel then nodded toward the small dining table behind her, speaking gruffly. “Then go sit over there and wait
for breakfast.”
“Oh, okay.” Eliana had no choice but to keep quiet.
When Theodore returned from his workout on the top floor, he saw Samuel sitting across from Eliana, looking concerned. “Come on, try it and see if it suits your taste.”
Eliana spooned up a mouthful of the dark, unidentifiable soup. She looked hesitant as she said, “Dr. Wilson, it smells really strong.”
Samuel gave her an idea. “You can hold your nose while you drink it.”
Eliana pinched her nose, drank it down, and then, under Samuel’s expectant gaze, said honestly, “It’s salty and bitter.”
“Really? I followed the recipe exactly.” Samuel picked up a small spoon, about to taste it himself, when Theodore, who’d just walked over, suddenly held his hand.
Samuel couldn’t help but say, “Mr. Russell?”
Eliana looked over. “Theodore, when did you get back?”
Theodore stared at Samuel’s outstretched hand, smiling without warmth. “What are you doing?”
Samuel said, “I want to taste how salty and bitter her soup is, so I can adjust it tomorrow, Mr. Russell.”
“Aren’t there more in the pot?” Theodore said with a frown.
Samuel caught Theodore’s implication that he shouldn’t drink the soup Eliana had drunk and quickly explained, “It’s at hand.”
“Don’t let it happen again.” Theodore let go of Samuel’s hand as he spoke.
Samuel replied, “Alright, alright.” Then, he headed for the small kitchen. The next second, Theodore added, “Bring
me some.
Samuel said with a snicker, “This is specially prepared for women. If you want some, you’d better go downstairs.”

So, Theodore pinched Eliana’s cheek before going downstairs.

When Lainey saw Theodore coming down, she paused as she was about to start her breakfast. Then, she said, “Theo, Anthony sent Alice away early this morning. Are you satisfied now?”
Theodore sneered and said, “Isn’t that what he should have done? What, do I need to thank him?”
Lainey’s mouth twitched. “No, that’s not what I mean. I’m saying that he has nothing to do with this. Don’t get me wrong.”
Theodore smiled faintly. “Then tell me, what does he have to do with?”
Lainey was stuck for words. She decided to just eat her breakfast. After all, she’d never gotten the upper hand with Theodore. It was better to say nothing. But as soon as she put the food in her mouth, she frowned. “Who made breakfast today?”
The servant behind her, seeing her bad mood, quickly went to the kitchen to ask.
A moment later, two chefs came out and said respectfully to Lainey, “Mrs. Lainey Russell, we made breakfast today.”
“What’s wrong with you? Don’t you know my tastes? Where’s your head chef? I need to speak to him.” Lainey was clearly taking out her frustration caused by Theodore on someone else.
Theodore, sitting at the head of the table, lifted his eyelids and said calmly. “The head chef handed in his resignation last night to go home and take care of his sick mother.”
Upon hearing that, Lainey was irritated. “His mother is sick? How come I didn’t know? I was the one who hired him into the Russell family. How ungrateful for him to leave without reporting!”
Theodore gave her a mocking look. “Do you think Alice could have prepared all that contraceptive food for my wife every night without help?”
At his words, Lainey finally realized. “Oh. That head chef was in charge of serving food every night. It must be his fault. Good thing you fired him. Such a bad guy doesn’t deserve to serve us.”
Theodore raised an eyebrow. “But you just said you were the one who hired him.”
Stunned, Lainey quickly defended herself. “That was years ago. I had nothing to do with this. God knows I’m telling the truth.”
Theodore believed her because Lainey had acted so foolishly today. She only realized the head chef was Alice’s accomplice after he’d pointed it out. If she’d been involved, she would have tried to fire the head chef first, instead of letting Theodore investigate it
Meanwhile, after Eliana finally finished her breakfast under Samuel’s supervision, she hurried back to her room to

rinse her mouth. The taste was stronger than any medicine she’d ever had.
When she came out of the bathroom, she saw Jayden standing outside, peeking in. She couldn’t help but ask, “Do you need something?”
