At the thought of this, Eliana felt depressed. But since everyone was trying so hard to hide things from her, she had. no choice but to pretend not to know. “So, what is the therapy?”
Samuel pulled out an injection syringe and said, “It’s for your belly. Come on, lie down.”
Eliana had just complied and lay down when Theodore walked in and said, “Let me do it.”
Samuel turned his head to look at him, teasing, “Mr. Russell, are you sure? If you prick the wrong spot, we’ll have to start over. You don’t mean to prick Mrs. Russell all over her belly, right?”
Eliana imagined that scene, and goose bumps rose on her skin. “Theodore, I appreciate your kindness, but maybe leave it to the professional?”
“All right. Don’t look where you shouldn’t,” Theodore murmured lowly in Samuel’s ear, then sat on the sofa behind, keeping his eyes fixed on them.
Samuel’s lips twitched. It was almost an impossible mission.
The next second, Eliana rolled up her pajamas to reveal her flat abdomen. She was quite composed, but Samuel’s scalp tingled under Theodore’s stare, as if he were a criminal.
Just then, Eliana asked, “Dr. Wilson, why are your hands shaking?”
Seeing Theodore narrow his sharp eyes, Samuel panicked and quickly found injected the medicine into her body.
Suddenly, Eliana moaned.
Smaue! said, “What’s wrong?”
“It hurts,” Eliana said.
Samuel said, “I’ll go lighter.”
Their conversation sounded strange. Samuel didn’t dare look at Theodore’s expression.
When the last battle of medicine was injected, Samuel suddenly felt a bit hot. He said to Theodore, “Mr. Russell, I’ll come back in half an hour to do further treatment for Mrs. Russell.”
Theodore nodded, then walked over to the bed. He glanced at her belly and asked, “How do you feel?”
“Theodore..” Eliana nuzzled against his palm and said, “I’m alright.”
She was so kind and considerate, yet had to go through all these painful things. Theodore couldn’t help but lower his head and kiss her between the eyebrows.
Noticing the worries hidden in his eyes, Eliana reached up to grip his shoulders and said, “I will get better.”
Theodore froze for a moment. He didn’t ask if she already knew something, just said, “Yes, you definitely will.”
A few days later. While Eliana was driving home, she suddenly spotted Barbara on the road.
At first, she wasn’t sure it was Barbara, so she took a closer look while stopped at a red light.
Barbara was crossing the street with her arms around a bunch of boys. Not only had she dyed her hair purple, but she also had a tattoo on her hand.
But Eliana knew Barbara attended the strictest high school in Covenhill, where hair dye and a tattoo were prohibited.
Eliana thought, ‘What had Barbara gone through in these over two months since she left home after a quarrel with Anthony?‘
Just then, a horn came from behind. Eliana realized the light had turned green and quickly started the car.
But as she watched Barbara get farther and farther away in the rearview mirror, Eliana finally turned the steering wheel to chase after her.
In the alley, a punk twirled Barbara’s hair in his hand, asking playfully, “Good girl from Riverhood High School, we’re going clubbing tonight. You sure you want to come?”
Barbara leaned against the wall, arms crossed, tilting her head to say, “You can go anywhere, just don’t leave me behind.”
The boys burst into laughter. “No friends at Riverhood High? So you want to be friends with us bad kids from Maplewood High?”
Barbara said lightly, “They’re all busy studying. You guys are way more fun.”
The boys asked curiously, “What about you? Don’t you need to study?”
Barbara shrugged. “I don’t care. My family doesn’t care either, anyway.”
Just then, Eliana slammed her car door shut and walked over. “Who says they don’t care?”
Barbara and the boys all looked over. When Barbara saw it was Eliana, a flash of panic crossed her eyes.
Seeing Eliana was heading for Barbara, the boys asked, “Who’s this pretty lady?”
Barbara said coldly, “No one. Let’s go.”
“I’m her family,” Eliana said, looking at the slouchy boys from another school, their badges reading “Maplewood High.” She said, “Why aren’t you going home to study but loitering around after school?”
The boys, seeing she was good–looking, spoke with more patience. “Hey, chick, we’re just a bunch of waste. Even if
we study 24/7, we’ll never be jade. Might as well chase girls for fun.”
Eliana shook her head and asked, “Do you know who she is?”
Barbara immediately warned, “Don’t you start.”

Eliana saw their confused faces and realized they clearly had no idea. She said, “She’s the daughter of the Russell family.”
“The Russell family?” The boys exchanged glances, each seeing a hint of fear in the other’s eyes. Looking at Barbara’s demeanor, she was definitely from a noble family.
Seeing their faces change, Eliana might as well scare them more. “You are not going to run? When I got out of the car, I called the police, saying you abducted the daughter of the Russell family.”
The boys immediately left Barbara behind. Barbara stepped back, but Eliana, foreseeing this, grabbed her hand to stop her from running.
Barbara couldn’t shake Eliana off, so she snapped, “Eliana, let go of me!”

Eliana pressed her lips together and asked, “Are you blaming me for stopping you from drugging Alice before?”
Barbara froze, then flew into a rage. “Yes. It’s all your fault. If you’d let me drug her, that packet of powder would never have been found by the chef, never ended up in Alice’s hands, and I’d never have been kicked out by Anthony.”
Eliana took a deep breath and asked, “All right. What do you want?”
Barbara sneered. “You’re Theodore’s favorite. What can I do to you?”
Eliana said firmly, “Come home with me. Whatever you want, I’ll let you have your way.”
“I said I’m not going back,” Barbara said, then bent down to bite Eliana’s hand hard.
As Eliana released her hand, Barbara dashed into the alley.
Eliana wanted to chase, but she was in high heels, while Barbara was in flats. Besides, Barbara took a shortcut, making it hard for her to drive afterward.
Barbara ran off smoothly and was soon out of Eliana’s sight. Obviously, this wasn’t the first time she’d snuck out of school. Maybe she’d been hanging around with those punks from other schools for a long time.
