“When did you get the DNA test done?” Hannah frowned.
Dominic replied, “After you told me Chloe’s birthday was in August.”
He didn’t believe that Chloe wasn’t his daughter, so he had gone ahead and done the test a while ago. He just hadn’t had time to pick up the results until recently.
As Grace stared at the report, her face turned grim, and her breathing grew shallow.
“Mom, are you okay?” Dominic asked.
“Don’t you ‘Mom‘ me! I’m about ready to pass out from anger!” Grace was fuming, practically shooting flames from her eyes.
She pointed at Chloe, then at Dominic and Hannah. “You… You two…”

Dominic had already called the doctor, who arrived quickly and examined Chloe.
Is she going to be okay?” Hannah hovered nervously, wringing her hands together.
Grace also turned to the doctor, waiting for an answer.
“She has acute gastroenteritis. An IV infusion and she’ll be fine,” the doctor replied.
The tension in Hannah’s shoulders released at once, and she staggered a little. Before she could fall, a strong hand caught her by the elbow.
That familiar amber scent wrapped around her. Dominic’s deep, steady voice murmured in her ear, “She’s alright. Don’t worry.”
Hannah finally nodded. As she looked at Chloe, she opened her mouth to speak but stopped halfway.

Hannah froze at those words.

“You…” Grace frowned. “Don’t go calling me that. Who said I’m your grandma?”
But her voice wasn’t as sharp as before. After all, this sweet little girl had just called her Grandma so endearingly.
Clearly, she learned that trick of reeling people in from Hannah.
Grace shot Hannah a disapproving look and let out a cold snort before walking off.
