Georgette’s POV

Georgette, go to the police station right now and tell them it was all a misunderstanding. Tell them Beatrice is innocent!”

Jerry’s voice was cold and commanding on the phone. You’re living it up in a hotel while Beatrice and her mother are still stuck in detention?”

I rolled my eyes. And what does that have to do with me?”

Seriously, what was wrong with this man? Was he completely out of his mind

He really thought I’d go clear things up at the police station for Beatrice

Georgette, you already took the money,he said flatly. That house is mine now. So technically, Beatrice didn’t forge anything.”

I gave a short, dismissive laugh. Then, Mr. Rodgers, maybe you should go explain that to the police. After all, it’s not my house anymore.”

And I wasn’t lying. I had already signed a legal contract with his father, including the property transfer documents. The house now officially belonged to their family

And I knew for a fact that his father would never let Beatrice off the hook. Because if it

weren’t for her, Jerry wouldn’t have spiraled out of control, and their family business with ours wouldn’t have fallen apart so fast

I even heard that after wrapping up the mess with him, his father flew straight overseas that same night to personally apologize to my dad

Over the phone, Jerry snapped, If it weren’t for your family, would Beatrice be in jail right now? You caused this mess. You should clean it up!”

But I couldn’t be bothered anymore. I hung up on him and blocked his number on the spot

No use wasting another second of my life on someone like him

After that, I went out to meet a few friends. From them, I learned that Jerry did eventually

bail out Beatrice and her mom

But the moment his father returned, his old man found out that he was still lingering with Beatrice. Enraged, his old man beat him half to death

On top of that, the old man immediately ordered all the urns to be thrown out of the villa

When I heard about it, I just smirked

But what I didn’t expect was the backlash

Because Jerry’s father threw out the urns, Beatrice and her mother teamed up with the deceased’s families. They all started gathering outside my hotel, accusing me of being coldblooded and heartless

Beatrice even went live on social media, crying and calling me out

A mob of grieving families took turns cursing me, saying I’d dumped their ancestorsremains in the trash. Some said urns were smashed and ashes were mixed together, so

there was no way to tell who was who anymore

Given my status as a wellknown heiress in the capital, I became the target of massive public backlash almost overnight

At that point, I had already broken off the engagement with Jerry and was planning to return overseas to continue working at the company. But I never made it past the front doors as angry protestors were waiting for me outside the building

Seeing the crowd’s rage, I calmly said, That house is no longer mine. It was bought by the Rodgers. And it was they who disposed of the ashes. And for the record, I’ve already filed a police report. Beatrice and her mother were operating an illegal funeral business and are now spreading lies to damage my name. My lawyers will be handling it.”

As soon as I finished speaking, many of the protestors turned their eyes toward Beatrice and her mother

I didn’t say anything more. I just turned and walked away

I’d already made my stance clear. The rest was up to the authorities and my lawyers

Sure enough, the police arrested Beatrice and her mother again

That very night, the hot search exploded with headlines: [The Rodgers Dump Ashes from Villa

The backlash was brutal

The Rodgers had already lost a huge chunk of business after my family cut ties. Now, none of their remaining partners dared to continue working with them

Even if they weren’t legally at fault, public opinion had already condemned them. And now, they were in a fullblown PR crisis
