Chapter 3
It took me a while to calm down enough to think.
There was no way this wedding was still happening.
I’d gone from jittery and excited to downright sick.
Liam really had the nerve to cheat on me the night before our wedding.
Was he seriously planning to just roll out of that hotel room tomorrow, slip into a tux, and pretend like nothing happened?
The thought made me nauseous.
I ran straight to the bathroom and threw up.
Kneeling beside the toilet, I reached down and touched my stomach.
This baby…
I couldn’t keep it.
I wasn’t bringing a child into a family that was already broken.
No way.
I picked up my phone and started making calls.
Woke up my parents, my brother, my bridesmaids–even my cousins who were crashing at a hotel nearby.
Thank God it was a holiday weekend.
Everyone was in town.
They all showed up confused and half–asleep.
“Wait, Sophia–what’s going on?”
I hadn’t explained much over the phone.
Just told them something happened with Liam and I needed them to come, now.
Once everyone was there, I told them.
I showed them the text.
“Liam’s cheating.
I’m going to that hotel to see it for myself.”
My dad and my brother were already halfway out the door, both of them ready to throw hands.
“Jacob! No fighting, dammit!”
My mom grabbed my dad’s arm, even though I could tell she was furious too.
“Let’s just go see what’s happening.
But if it’s true…”
She turned to my brother and cousins.

“You hold Liam down. Ain’t no man gets to humiliate my daughter like that.”
