Chapter 8
“Oh my bad,” I said, my smile razor sharp.
“I was so busy slapping him, I almost forgot about you.”
I lunged.
Grabbed a fistful of her short–ass hair–and let both palms fly.
Smack.
Smack.
Her face snapped side to side like a bobblehead.
She didn’t even dare make a sound.
“You wanna know what I used to think?” I hissed.
‘I thought you were just chill. A laid–back, funny, tomboy type.
Turns out you’re just shameless.”
‘You say you’re not trying to break up our relationship–but then you sleep with my fiancé?”
‘What kind of twisted logic is that?”
‘You two wanna get freaky? Fine.
But don’t pretend it’s some kind of adult enlightenment bullshit.”
‘You’re not liberated. You’re just gross.”
spat the words like poison.
You wanna get off that bad, grab a damn vibrator next time.
Don’t screw people who are getting married in twelve hours.”
looked insane.
felt insane.
But I didn’t care.
didn’t care about looking unhinged.
cared that the man I loved had destroyed everything.
didn’t even know–did it start last week? Last month? A year ago?
Chapter 8
I didn’t need a timeline.
All I needed to know was that Liam had betrayed me.
And not just me–he trashed everything we’d built over seven long years.
And the worst part?
He wasn’t always like this.
He used to be the guy who wore that stupid oversized hoodie,
Blushed like crazy when he told me he liked me.
He was the guy who swore he’d never let go,
Even when everyone said our high school relationship was a joke.
But now?
He was lying on the floor,
Hair messy, eyes down,
Double chin starting to form–and I couldn’t see a single trace of the boy I once loved.
