Chapter 14
The baby didn’t make it.
As soon as she heard, Liam’s mom let out a piercing wail.
‘Oh my God! My grandbaby! My poor grandbaby!”
‘You people owe me a grandchild!”
Liam looked even worse than when he got caught cheating.
My brother had just gotten off work when Dad texted him.
He rushed to the hospital, took one look at Liam–and knocked him out with a single punch.
Liam curled up on the floor like a shrimp.
His parents panicked but didn’t dare mess with my brother–he’s built like a linebacker.
Then, in a move of peak delusion, they called the cops.
Yup. They actually called the police.
They claimed my brother assaulted Liam out of nowhere.
‘Are you f*cking serious?”
My brother grabbed Liam by the collar, right in front of the officer.
‘Officer, this jerk broke into my parents‘ house and punched my sister in the face.
I gave him one punch. That’s it. I’m the criminal here?”
Of course not.
At most, the cop gave a generic lecture about not taking revenge into your own hands.
But once he learned I was pregnant–and that Liam was the father–the cop’s attitude turned cold real fast.
This looks like your family’s responsibility.”
‘If the victim presses charges, Mr. Evans may be coming with us.”
Liam’s parents freaked out.
‘It’s–it’s all a misunderstanding, really!”
“Officer, our son is a good man, I swear!”
“He was just… uh… emotionally unstable after getting hit yesterday.”

Chapter 14
Liam’s mom looked nervous, but she was still determined to spin it her way.
She told the cop I brought a group of people to “intimidate” her precious son,
That Liam got slapped multiple times,
And hinted–just subtly enough–that maybe he wasn’t quite… right anymore.
Liam’s face turned pale. His fragile male ego just shattered on the spot.
My brother actually burst out laughing.
“Oh, come on. Intimidation? Officer, don’t listen to this woman.”
“Her son’s the one who cheated-
Sent motel texts straight to my sister’s phone.”
“My sister was pregnant, man. She caught him red–handed and slapped him a few times.
Big deal. If he can’t handle that, maybe he’s got bigger problems.”
Then my brother paused, tilted his head, and added:
“Wait…. so that baby my sister lost–was that your family’s last shot at not being absolute garbage?”
That one hit like a bullet.
Liam’s mom gasped, went limp, and fainted right there on the hospital floor.
“I didn’t even touch her!”
My brother held up both hands like he was being arrested.
“Officer, I swear, I didn’t do a damn thing!”
Even the cop looked like he was over it.
To him, the Evans family looked like the definition of self–destruction.
He gave my brother a mild warning, then turned to Liam.
“Since the assault led to a miscarriage, Mr. Evans will need to apologize formally and provide restitution.”
“Or we can take this to court.”
And just like that, the Evans family slinked away, humiliated.
We thought it was finally over.
But a couple days later–the internet exploded.
