Refore she could wonder why Matt would rescue her, she passed out.
She woke in a hospital.
Sylvia blinked het dry eyes, her gaze moving from the stark white ceiling to the man who hadn’t left her bedside
After double checking to make sure she wasn’t hallucinating, she still couldn’t believe it. The only person who had stayed with her was actually Matt Kingsley.
Hiding her surprise, she asked flatly. “Shouldn’t you be with Tiffany?”
“Just came from there. She’s surrounded by people. Edwin’s with her too.”
Matt had expected her to react strongly to Edwin’s name, but her expression didn’t change at all. Instead, she immediately tried to get rid of bir
“You should head back over there. I like being alone.”
After she spoke, he didn’t budge. She glanced at him questioningly. “Something else on your mind?”
“Don’t marry Edwin.” Matt had been quiet for a while, like he was searching for the right words before finally speaking up. Once he started, everything poured out. “He doesn’t actually give about you. He only got close to you so you’d get out of Tiffany’s way!”
Having unloaded this secret, he seemed partly relieved. But looking at Sylvia, he was stunned to see her completely unfazed, still eerily calm.
As if… she already knew.
Suddenly, it clicked. “Wait–you knew about this?”
“Just go,” she said, ignoring his question and trying to brush him off.
But instead of leaving, his reaction intensified. “You know and you’re still marrying him? Have you lost your mind?”
At this, Sylvia smiled.
“None of your business. Didn’t I already break our engagement so you could have your precious Tiffany?”
That shut him up.
He didn’t understand what was happening to him. He should be happy, but lately, whenever he looked at Tiffany, he couldn’t stop thinking about Sylvia who used to follow him everywhere. Even his dreams were filled with her.
In the midst of this silence, Edwin suddenly pushed open the door. The moment he saw Matt, his face hardened.
“Matt, what the hell are you doing here?”
With Edwin present, their previous conversation couldn’t continue. Matt gave Sylvia one last meaningful look before leaving without another word.
As soon as Matt was gone, Edwin anxiously embraced Sylvia.
“Sylvia, I’m so sorry. I wasn’t ignoring you–I just got confused about who was who in the water.”
“Please don’t be mad at me. I’ll stop checking in on Tiffany altogether. And could you please stay away from Matt?”
“You finally got over him and agreed to be with me. If you start getting involved with him again, I’ll completely lose it.”
As Edwin apologized over and over, Sylvia’s expression remained impassive. She closed her eyes without responding, only one thought in her mind:
Let this all be over as soon as possible.
In the days that followed, perhaps to demonstrate his commitment, Edwin didn’t visit Tiffany again or check for updates about her. He stay Sylvia’s side constantly, buying her gifts and trying to please her.

This continued until the night before their wedding
That evening, Sylvia began packing things away for no apparent reason
Edwin noticed but didn’t think much of it, even helping her pack.
But as they continued, he realized she was gathering all the things he had given her during his pursuit.
Photographs he’d taken of her;
Love letters he’d written;
Gifts he’d bought her;
