Chapter 8
When Lorian rushed to the hospital, Wilda was sitting on the bed with tears streaming down her face.
“Mr.Vale, I’m so sorry. If something happens to this baby, I can’t face you… and grandmother…”
“It’s okay, it’s okay.” Lorian rubbed her swollen belly, using his other hand to gently wipe away her tears.
Wilda put on her best pitiful act. “Mr.Vale, I know…
I’m only allowed to stay by your side this long because I’m carrying your child.”
“Mr.Vale, actually I…” She paused. “Actually, I’ve always been in love with you. That’s why when I saw you were drugged, I threw myself at you to help.”
Wilda grabbed his hand. “That’s why when I saw you trapped in that fire, I risked my pregnant body to save you.”
“Mr.Vale–no, Lorian,can you accept me?”
The more vulnerable she acted, the more agitated Lorian became.
He shoved her away, but couldn’t bring himself to actually lash out at her.
“Wilda, once you have this baby, I’ll give you enough money to live in Europe. You’ll never want for anything.”
Lorian’s expression turned cold.
“None of that matters to me. What if all I want is only you?”
Seeing his reaction, Wilda grabbed his hand and pressed it against her chest. “Please, don’t make me leave you.
Please?”
Lorian let out a heavy breath, and for some reason, he thought of Saffron.
“No… I can’t…” He frantically pulled away and headed for the door. “Wilda, you know me. My heart belongs to Saffron.”
“No matter what Grandma promised you, Saffron is the only one in my heart. You need to accept that!”
Lorian slammed the door and left.
He didn’t notice that right after he left, a man in a suit entered Wilda’s room.
By chance, Lorian–who should have left–ran into his grandmother at the hospital entrance, coming to visit Wilda.
The conversation from the room drifted right to their cars.

Chapter 8
“Xavier, it’s your baby! Are you really going to abandon it?” Wilda’s voice hit Lorian’s ears. His eyes went wide with
disbelief.
“Jesus, will you give it a rest? Didn’t I already tell you I don’t want the damn thing?” From the voice, this “Xavier” sounded like he was pushing sixty.
“This kid–no matter what I tried, I couldn’t get rid of it. Since I’m having it, you must give me money!”
Wilda’s voice was nothing like the soft tone Lorian knew–it was vicious and sharp as a poisoned needle.
She laughed coldly, each word cutting“Otherwise, I might have to pay your wife a little visit.”
The moment Xavier heard “wife,” his voice dropped. “How much do you want?”
Wilda smiled and held up two fingers, waving them.
“Two million dollars.”
Xavier gasped, then exploded“You’re fucking blackmailing me! You evil bitch!”
“Aren’t you already get on Lorian’s bed? And now you want to shake me down too!”
“But this is your bloodline, Xavier. You were so pissed at me at that charity I had no choice but to drug Lorian and wear a dress like his wife’s to trick him.”
“Then I secretly set that fire in his office and ‘heroically‘ saved him so he’d take me in and claim this baby.”
“Xavier, the Vales treat me so well now, but the second this kid is born, they’ll figure out it’s not Lorian’s! That’ll
come back to bite both of us!”
“This is your last chance–give me that two million, I’ll disappear with the kid, and you’ll be in the clear.”
Wilda’s sinister laughter reached Lorian’s ears, every word crystal clear.
“What! This baby isn’t a Vale?”
CRASH! A loud bang made everyone turn.
Grandmother’s face was a mix of panic and rage. “Is this child a Vale or not?”
