The Truth About the Crash
(Amber’s POV)
I couldn’t sleep. The rain had stopped hours ago, but my mind was facing with thoughts of Shannon Miles. The digital clock showed 3:17 AM as I stared at Dominic sleeping beside me.
Shannon Miles. Just thinking about her name made my wolf bristle. She had been a top model in the supernatural world before vanishing from the spotlight..
Dominic stirred, his blue eyes finding mine. “You should be sleeping. Your neck needs rest.”
“I need to ask you something,” I whispered. “Did you know Shantion Miles is making a comeback?”
His expression remained neutral, but I caught the slight tightening around his eyes. “Yes.”
“And you didn’t think to mention it?” I tried to keep the accusation from my voice.
Dominic sat up, fully awake now. “I didn’t realize it would affect you directly.”
“She’s going to be the cover model for Moon magazine’s anniversary issue. The same issue Paige wants to shoot.” I rubbed my sore neck. “It can’t be a coincidence.”
“You think Ryan is behind it?” Dominic asked carefully.
“Who else? He’s always had a soft spot for her, even after everything she did.”
“You could ask him directly,” Dominic suggested.
I shook my head. “I can’t. It’s complicated.”
“Because of Finland?” His question surprised me.
“Yes,” I admitted. “Ryan helped me when I was abroad. When I was… unstable. He found me a doctor when I needed one most.
Dominic’s expression softened. “I remember. You mentioned that before.”
“That’s why Paige is determined to take this project herself. To face Shannon on her own terms.”
“I’ll support whatever decision you make,” Dominic said, pulling me against his chest. “Remember when I punched Ryan at Howling River Diner?”
The memory came back sharply–Ryan’s shocked face, blood trickling from his nose, Dominic standing over him with cold fury
“I remember,” I said softly.
“I did that for you. I’ll always choose you, regardless of my friendship with Ryan.”
His words warmed me, and sleep finally began to claim me. “Thank you,” I murmured.
(Third–person’s POV)
Dominic held Amber until she fell asleep, but his mind remained active. Her words about Ryan had struck a nerve.
It was actually Dominic who had arranged for Ryan to “find” a doctor for Amber abroad. He had orchestrated everything, knowing Amber wouldn’t accept help directly from him then. Ryan had merely been the messenger.
Once Amber was deeply asleep, Dominic reached for his phone and messaged Felix:
*“Change of plans regarding Moon magazine. Help Elliot with the acquisition, but ensure it follows proper channels. Make sure Paige’s project proceeds normally.”

Felix responded immediately: *“Understood, Alpha. I’ll contact Elliot now.” 11*

In his apartment, Elliot nearly dropped his phone when Felix’s message arrived. He had thought Dominic’s earlier refusal was final.
“Mr. Blackwood has reconsidered your proposal,“* Felix explained in his call, *“He’ll assist with the acquisition, but only through legitimate channels. No manipulation, no pressure tactics*
“I don’t understand,” Elliot stammered. “This morning he seemed completely against it.”
“The Alpha’s reasons are his own,” Felix replied coolly. “Do you accept his terms?”
“Yes, of course,” Elliot said quickly. “Please thank him for me.”
Meanwhile, in Crescent Moon Hospital, Melissa was finally making a call she’d been postponing for three days.
“Mother Blackwood,” she said when Olivia answered, her voice deliberately weak. “I have news.”
“Melissa? Why are you calling so late? Is everything alright?”
“I’m in the hospital,” Melissa said, adding a tremor to her voice. “I’ve been here since the accident.”
“Accident? What accident? Why didn’t Ethan call me?”
“He didn’t want to worry you.” Melissa placed a hand over her stomach. “Especially given my condition.”
“Condition? What condition?”
Melissa paused dramatically. “I’m pregnant, Mother Blackwood. You’re going to be a grandmother.”
Olivia squealed with delight, momentarily forgetting her concern about the accident.
“How far along? Is the baby alright after this accident?”
“Six weeks,” Melissa replied. “The doctor says I need complete bed rest. The accident… it put the pregnancy at risk.”
Olivia’s tone immediately hardened. “What happened? Tell me everything.”
“There was an incident with Amber Chase,” Melissa said vaguely. “It resulted in a car accident.”
“Amber? That girl was involved?” Olivia’s voice turned cold. “Did she cause this?”
Melissa didn’t correct Olivia’s assumption. “The doctor says I need to avoid all stress. For the baby’s sake.”
“That irresponsible girl!” Olivia fumed. “First she breaks my son’s heart, and now she endangers my grandchild! I’ll call her immediately.”
“Please, don’t upset yourself,” Melissa said, hiding her satisfaction. “Think of your blood pressure.”
But Olivia had already hung up, her maternal fury ignited.
(Amber’s POV)
The buttercream cake melted in my mouth at the cafe next to my studio. My peaceful moment shattered when my phone rang
with Olivia’s name.
“Hello?” I answered cautiously.
What followed was a thirty–minute tirade that left my ears ringing
“How dare you endanger my grandchild!” she shouted. “First you break my son’s heart, and now you nearly kill his unborn child!”
“What? I didn’t-“I tried to interrupt, but Olivia steamrolled over me.
“Melissa is on bed rest because of you! She could lose the baby! You’ve never thought about anyone but yourself!”

By the time she finally hung up, my cake sat forgotten and iny wolf was snarling with indignation.
Timmediately tried to call back, but her phone went straight to voicemail.
“That manipulative little-“I growled, gathering my things to confront Olivia in person.
Before leaving, I called Dominic.
“Olivia just accused me of causing Melissa’s accident and endangering her pregnancy,” I explained, shaking with anger. “I’m going to the pack house to confront her.”
“Wait,” Dominic said firmly. “Don’t go anywhere. I’ll handle this
“But she’s telling everyone I-”
“Trust me, Amber. Wait for my instructions.”
Twenty minutes later, Felix sent me a video file. It showed security footage from the intersection where the accident occurred. There was my car, stopped at a red light. Then Ethan’s sedan appeared, moving normally until–inexplicably–it accelerated directly into my bumper.
The evidence was clear. Ethan had hit me, not the other way around.
While processing this, another notification appeared. Lucas had added me to a new WhatsApp group titled “Blackwood Pack with all key family members.
A private message from Dominic followed:
*“Post the video in the group. Express your anger. I’ll handle any fallout. Arguing will only hurt you, and if you get hurt, the pain will be mine. Might as well show the video for what it is.“*
My fingers trembled as I uploaded the video to the group chat. Then I typed furiously:
*“For everyone who has been lied to by Melissa and Ethan: HERE is what actually happened. THEY hit ME, not the other way around. The video doesn’t lie, even if certain people do.“*
I continued, my rage pouring out:
*“Olivia, you screamed at me for thirty minutes without giving me a chance to speak. Where is your apology? Or are you too busy coddling your son and his lying wife?”
*“Ethan, you’ve always been a coward, but this is low even for you. Letting Melissa twist the story instead of taking responsibility for YOUR driving.”
11*
*“And Melissa–I actually felt sorry for you when I saw you bleeding. I TOLD paramedics to check on you first. This is how you repay basic decency? By lying and manipulating Olivia against me?“‘*
The group remained silent for several minutes. Then Dominic responded:
*“I expect immediate apologies from Olivia, Ethan, and Melissa to my wife. Benjamin, control your wife and son. This behavior is unacceptable in our pack.“*
My phone buzzed with a private message from Lucas:
*“Is this group chat just for you to vent your anger?“*
