“Alright, I’ll walk you out,” Samuel said as he stood up to escort Yvonne.
At the same time, Jared stepped out of the conference room to take a call. He heard the voice on the other end. With a glance from the corner of his eye, he noticed the VIP elevator doors closing.
First, he saw Samuel’s figure, and then…
The other figure flashed by so quickly, but it looked like Yvonne.
By the time Jared’s steps brought him closer, the elevator was already descending.
He must have been mistaken. How could Yvonne be at Hover Group?
“Mr. Ford, sorry to keep you waiting,” Samuel said. His eyes narrowed ever so slightly as he saw Jared. “Let’s head to the conference room to discuss the bidding project.”
When Samuel brought up business, Jared snapped back to attention and stopped overthinking.
Jared and Luther sat in the conference room. When the materials were brought in, Liam started the meeting first without
Samuel.
Meanwhile, Samuel personally went to the break room, where he saw Holly making coffee. He handed her the coffee beans in the paper bag and made sure to emphasize his point.
“From now on,
brew this coffee for me every day. Don’t let anyone else have it. This is just for me.”
“Of course, Mr. Hover.” Holly was a career woman with a serious attitude toward her work.
Samuel had already turned to leave, but suddenly, he paused and added, “Remember, Mr. Hall isn’t allowed to have my coffee
beans either.”
Holly froze for a moment. She’d never seen Samuel treat anything with this much importance.
“Got it, Mr. Hover.”
Back in the conference room, Samuel took his seat. “Sorry for the wait.”
He was personally overseeing this important bidding project. Seated across from him, both Jared and Luther carried a hint of tension in their posture, keeping their focus sharp.
In Jeriton City, the Hover family’s influence reigned supreme.
Samuel flipped through the documents. He kept work and personal matters separate and didn’t give off an overbearing presence.
Just then, Holly entered the room with a tray of coffee. One of those cups was exclusively for Samuel.
Samuel picked it up, took a sip, and let the rich flavor settle on his tongue. It was excellent.
Amid the strictly business–focused atmosphere, Jared suddenly caught the familiar scent of coffee.
He froze in surprise and glanced at Samuel în confusion. That aroma was just the coffee Yvonne used to make.
No way!
But at a time like this, Jared couldn’t say a word. That coffee was something he’d been craving. Now, it was in Samuel’s hand, but Jared didn’t dare to reach for it.
While Luther confidently led the discussion, Jared kept glancing at the cup. His thoughts were completely off track.
Was he so distracted and out of sorts because he wanted that cup of coffee too much today?

Noticing Jared’s distraction, Samuel slowly narrowed his eyes. And somehow, the coffee in his hand tasted even better.
When the meeting finally wrapped up, Samuel stood and gave a polite nod.
“This project hasn’t officially launched yet, but we’ve seen the sincerity from both Ford Corporation and Feland Group. No matter who we choose to partner with in the end, it’ll be a good outcome.”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Hover. Feland Group is fully prepared whenever you’re ready to announce the direction.”
Luther was in top form today, handling the discussion with ease–especially compared to Jared, whose distraction was obvious.
In the elevator going down, Luther observed how Jared remained silent. A taunting smile played at the corner of his lips.
“Mr. Ford, it looks like you’re out of your depth. What’s the matter? You can’t get anything done without Ms. Jamison holding your hand? If you lose this bid, I’ll make sure everyone knows you were bested by me.”
Luther’s cutting words stirred a wave of unease in Jared’s heart. He felt that all the chaos was because Yvonne hadn’t come back after their argument.
If she kept interacting with Luther, Jared would be even more affected. So, he had to deal with Luther, his romantic rival.
He couldn’t let any man with ill intentions be around Yvonne anymore.
