Presley was in her suite alone pacing.
During their lunch, Odin took a phone call out in the lobby and then disappeared. Her parents were pissed off but they, as well as Marsha, were also too tired to deal with him so they, Sloane and Halima all went to their respective rooms.
Anderson told Cruz he needed to talk to him about something and the way Anderson was watching Halima walk away, Presley figured the man needed to get his best friend’s advice on how to proceed. She thought Anderson was asking the wrong guy considering Cruz chased her with the tact of a bulldozer over an ant hill but what did she know?
A knock on the door made her grimace, “Cruz, stop forgetting your key.” She grumbled as she opened the door to find Odin there. She immediately wanted to slam it shut.
“What do you want?”
“I need Dad’s room number. They wouldn’t give it to me at the desk.”
“Can’t help you. I don’t have it.”
“I need him to do the transfer.”
She frowned, “what?”
“We ate brunch together. He owes me twenty grand.”
“Considering you stole ten grand from him, pretty sure he doesn’t owe you twenty grand.”
Odin’s visible swallowing made her angry. He knew he was doing wrong when he stole and yet he did it
anyway. Jerk.
“Dad knows?”
“Did you think he wasn’t going to be suspicious of you being in his computer?”
“f**k,” Odin smacked his hand against the door frame. “I need to talk to him.”
“Like I said, I can’t help you. They were exhausted from the long flight and last–minute rushing around to get
here.” She made a face, “I still can’t figure out how they all got here so fast and got rooms.”
“That’s easy. Anderson.” Odin laughed at her.
“Cruz said Anderson didn’t do it.”
“You don’t actually think Cruz didn’t call a favor from his best buddy.”
“He said he didn’t.”
“And you believe him?” Odin’s laugh turned into chortles. “This is going to be his best prank yet, isn’t it? Get
you up the aisle and then humiliate you.”
She wanted to slam the door in his face, “it’s not a prank, Odin. We care for each other.”
“You’re joking right? It’s about revenge and getting back at you. You humiliated him on a grand stage. The entire world saw how you assaulted him in a restaurant and accused him of drug use. His father is making

waves and is back in his life. Cruz hates his old man. If for no other reason than you bringing the bastard back into his life, Cruz is going to punish you.”
“You’re such a jerk.”
“I’m dead serious.” Odin was holding his sides as he openly laughed at her misery. “You’re so f*****g stupid, Presley. He hates your guts. He always has. He was my best friend. Do you think he really hates me and likes you?”
A niggling of doubt wormed into her brain.
“Yes.” She tried to stay firm.
“It’s a joke. You’re a f*****g joke.” Odin was sneering at her. “It’s revenge. It’s another day of your stupid prank
war, Presley.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about, Odin. You’ve alienated your friends so much lately because you
can’t see what is right in front of you. Your misogyny, drunkenness and shitty behavior has made everyone who cares for you want to stay clear. You’re trying to ruin a good thing because you are a miserable prick who doesn’t know what it means to be happy. When someone is happy, your first response is to think of ways
to make them as miserable as you.”
“I’ll give you that,” Odin smirked, “when it comes to you, at least. I hate you. I have hated you since you
popped out of your mother’s loose cunt and stole half my inheritance. I will never like you Presley. In fact,
there were times when you were a kid, I thought of ways to get rid of you.”
“Odin!” she was horrified at his words.
“But then I realized it was so much more fun to torture the f**k out of you and I made Cruz doing my bidding.
He’s addicted to it you know. He loves making you cry.”
“He does not. You’re a sick human being.”
“At least I’m an honest one, not lying to your face day in and day out. He has you convinced, doesn’t he, about
how he cares. I bet when he f***s you, he says things like you’re the he ever screwed and how he can’t wait to marry you. I bet he even told you the story of his mother to make you think he has feelings. He doesn’t you know. He’s as cold and miserable as his father. I went to visit him in Toronto last year and do you know
he was such a cold bastard he fired an entire department without blinking an eye. One of them was a
pregnant woman.”
“Business is business.”
“Exactly, Presley. Business is business and you, are business. You interfered with his and his father’s business. He’s doing what a cold, ruthless, cynical bastard of a businessman would do. He’s manipulating you and you’re too f*****g stupid to see it. It’s all a joke. It’s all meant to make you look like a fool. You’ll walk
down the aisle, and he’ll tell you it’s/not real, none of it is real, post it on social media to make everyone
realize you’re nothing but a joke. He’s f*****g with you, Presley.”
Presley gave a scream when suddenly Odin was ripped back off the doorframe and thrown into the room and Cruz was straddling him on the floor and his fists were flying. The pounding of flesh on flesh made her
stomach roll.
Anderson was calling out for Cruz to stop hitting him and trying to pull him off, but Cruz was like a man possessed and the sickening sound of a bone breaking somewhere on Odin’s body echoed around the room.

Tell her man, Odin was laughing while Cruz punched him, spitting globules of blood at Cruz, “tell her how you told me when you threw me out of here how you weren’t going to let me ruin your perfect plan.” He cackled as he gurgled the blood. “Your perfect plan is to f**k with her, isn’t it? Make her think you cared and Its all a joke.”
Cruz hit him again and knocked him out cold while Presley covered her face in horror.
Blood from Odin’s mouth and nose was sprayed over the floor and Cruz was holding his fist back as if he wanted to throw one more punch despite the man under him being unconscious. His knuckles were bloodied
and bruised.
“What did you do?” She questioned through her fingers as he slowly got to his feet.
“So f*****g sick of his mouth. He’s a lying, scheming son of a bitch.”
“You didn’t need to beat him into the floor!” She was on her knees checking for a pulse.
“He’s not dead,” Anderson called out with a snort. “He got what he deserved.”
She shot Anderson a look which should have withered him into dust, but he shook his head.
“Before you plead this fucker’s case,” Cruz huffed loudly at her, shaking out his fist, he waved at Anderson,” tell her what we just heard.”
“Odin offered you to the mob guy in exchange for his debt to be waived.”
“What?”
Cruz was still panting and the way he kept drawing his leg back, Presley considered he was itching to lay boots to her brother’s body. “We were standing near the entry behind a wall talking and a bunch of cars pulled up. The guy pulling all the strings behind the scenes to make sure your parents and everyone are here is Liborio Bartoli, the mobster your brother borrowed money from. They were treating him like royalty as he pulled up. Two of goons lagged behind and were smoking outside. One of them said to the other how Odin better hope his sister was willing to do what he said she would. The other one,” he paused as if he couldn’t
finish it.
Anderson continued, “the other one said, if you don’t do what the boss wants and agree to take over Odin’s debt and become his woman, he’s going to kill your parents and Odin. The reason your family and friends all got flights and got rooms here, is because Liborio Bartoli wants everyone here you love so he can pressure you into doing what he wants. In exchange for their lives, you will take over Odin’s debt.” Anderon couldn’t stop himself and he kicked Odin’s unconscious body. “Asshole!” he yelled at him and ran his hand through his hair. “My f*****g sister is here and she’s going to get threatened.”
She was going to puke. “No. He wouldn’t.”
“I hate you.” Odin’s words from moments ago mocked her as they floated through her mind. Tears welled in
her eyes.
“He said you were playing me. This is part of the prank, right?” When Cruz shook his head she grabbed his leg, “he said this is all a prank and you even warned him not to say anything and ruin your perfect plan!”
“Yes! You and me. Perfect! Presley I’d make this wedding real right now, sweetheart.” He saw her shock, “my plan, my perfect plan is to give you the best fake wedding and it would make you so desperate to do it for real you would want to duplicate it with me in the future.”

She sat back on her haunches, “What?” Teare streamed down her cheeks. Why? You didn’t even like me a
month ago.
Tell her Cruz. Now before the mob boss who obviously knows all our ****g secrets and has someone on his team better than Sloane and I combined spills $44 nobody is supposed to know
“We need to get him out of here first.”
You’re stalling.” Anderson called him out. “Just f*****g tell her.”
Anderson’s words made fear Odin wasn’t lying earlier. It was all a joke. Another unexpected visitor though
interrupted her.
Algernon on his way to his own room, saw the commotion, poked his head into the open door and gave a gleeful laugh, “ha! He is the one who plotted to hurt you! I’m glad I did not push you so far to get beat like this! Is he dead?” He made wide eyes at Cruz and punched the air playfully.
“Algernon, not now.” Cruz sighed.
“He was at the pub where I was hiding today saying all his problems would be solved by tonight. I’m glad to see you beat him to the punch!” He elbowed Anderson who snickered.
“I like this guy,” Anderson laughed despite the situation.
“He tried to sell his sister to a mobster.” Cruz waved at Odin.
Algernon frowned and sneered at the man on the floor, “that’s horrible. Piece of s**t!”
“Right?”
“Why is alive? There is an entire sea out there. I have a friend with a yacht. I will call him.”
The three men exchanged glances and Presley nearly screamed with her frustration. “You are not throwing my brother into the sea. Anderson, go wake my parents and get them down here because Dad is going to have to know what the hell is going on. Cruz, find something to clean this mess. Algernon,” she stared at the man unsure of why he was even there, “make yourself useful and help me put my brother on the bed.”
Algernon sighed, “it will make your blankets dirty. You should leave him there.”
“Now!” She yelled and all three men jumped. She pointed at Cruz, “and whatever f*****g secret you’re hiding from me, I better know it before bedtime, and I decide to go cozy up to a scary mobster instead of waking
down the f*****g aisle.”
