Afternoon.
Sonia hesitated for a long time outside the Coleman family residence before finally walking in. Her mother, Mabel Coleman, smiled and greeted her when she saw her: “Sonia, you’re back.”
She glanced toward the door.
After discovering that only Sonia had returned, disappointment flickered across her face.
Sonia had already noticed and simply said: “No need to look. Only I came back.”
Upon hearing this, Mabel’s smile stiffened slightly.
Andrew came downstairs at that moment. Not seeing Conrad, his face showed some displeasure. “Didn’t I tell you to bring Conrad over?”
“He’s busy.”
“No matter how busy he is, he’s still your husband! What couple doesn’t have their ups and downs? If you can’t even manage to get your husband to come home for dinner, you’re failing as a wife!”
Sonia felt her heart had been frozen numb.
No one could understand her. Not even her family.
He started scolding her without even asking for the reason–nothing had changed in six years.
She remembered when she married Conrad, her parents were especially happy, thinking she was going to become a wealthy socialite.
Although the Coleman family wasn’t as rich as the Fairfax family, compared to ordinary families, they were well–off.
She had once thought her parents were open–minded and genuinely wanted her happiness.

Chapter 14
After marriage, her parents began pressuring her to use her status as Mrs. Fairfax to ask Conrad for
money.
At first, it was just to buy her brother a bigger house and car, but later it was to cover her father’s business losses. Time and again, Conrad filled the gaps in her family’s business ventures.
In her parents‘ eyes, their son was more important.
And she was just a cash cow they had latched onto from a wealthy family.
‘I’m truly sorry,” Sonia snapped back to reality and said calmly after a glance around. “I asked him
for a divorce.”
Upon hearing the word “divorce,” Andrew’s face turned pale, and he raised his hand to give her a hard slap.
