Chapter 91
Samuel’s voice, gentle yet resolute, held a strange power of persuasion.
Yvonne took a deep breath, gradually calming down.

“Yeah, you’re Mr. Hover, the prince of Jeriton City. Even a natural disaster wouldn’t dare mess with you.”
She didn’t know if she was just too shaken to think straight. But somehow, she still managed to find humor in the chaos.
Samuel handed her a bottle of water. His eyes gradually darkened as he scanned their surroundings.
“Because I’m Samuel Hover, if I go missing, a lot of people will come looking. If I die, they’ll dig up the whole mountain to find my body. So as long as we’re alive, we will be rescued.
“For once, I feel like being a Hover isn’t all bad. At least in a moment like this, my name might actually save you.”
Yvonne froze.
Somehow, beneath his calm tone, she caught a trace of self–loathing for who he was.
She couldn’t understand–couldn’t even begin to imagine–how he could talk about life and death with such chilling calm.
When he said “I’m Samuel Hover“, it didn’t sound like pride. It felt more like quiet self–mockery.
Heavy was the head that wore the crown.
“Mr. Hover, did you ever change your name?”
Yvonne wasn’t sure why she asked that.
When Samuel heard her question, his eyes flickered. He was about to say something, but in the end, he said nothing.
“I’d like a sip too,” he said.
“Here.”
There was only one bottle of water, and Yvonne had already drunk from it.
As Samuel took it from her, the corners of his lips tugged into a small smile. They’d just shared the same bottle of water.
The surrounding silence made everything feel eerily tense. It heightened their sensitivity to even the faintest sound.
After a few minutes of rest, Yvonne felt her strength slowly returning.
Maybe the last topic had been too heavy.
She glanced over at Samuel and tried to change the topic. “You shouldn’t have come alone, Mr. Hover. Where are your driver and bodyguards today? If they were here, maybe we’d have some backup. Or better yet, you could’ve made one of those dramatic CEO entrances straight out of a short drama.”
“Dramatic CEO entrances? Short drama?” Samuel blinked, clearly lost.
Smiling, Yvonne explained, “It’s like a TV drama, but a shorter version. When the female lead is in danger, the male lead CEO comes to the rescue, blocking off the entire road. Dozens of helicopters then swoop down, instantly saving her. Isn’t that funny?

Samuel thought about it. And then, he actually laughed. “I never would’ve guessed you watch those, Ms. Jamison.”
But he actually liked the analogy.
The male lead and female lead should be a couple, right?
“There’s still no signal. There might be a damaged tower here. We need to head over there to get a signal and call for help.”

Samuel rose to his feet. He loosened his tie and rolled up his sleeves, revealing strong forearms beneath the damp white shirt. He’d always been impeccably put together. But now, with his white shirt loosely unbuttoned, he looked like he’d shed the weight of his status.
That normally restrained nobility of his gave way to something sharper, as though a completely different version of him had emerged.
Yvonne stared at him for a moment. This was a side of Samuel she wasn’t familiar with.
Maybe this was the real Samuel underneath it all.
“Let’s keep moving,” he said, extending his hand.
Yvonne took it without hesitation. The two of them were now bound by life and death.
“Watch your step. The rain’s made the ground dangerous. Follow my lead,” Samuel said.
“Got it.”
As Yvonne glanced down to watch where she stepped, her eyes caught something on his left hand.
Just beneath the edge of his watch strap, it looked like there was a tattoo. His ring finger had a simple band, but it seemed positioned to cover another tattoo as well.
She was surprised.
She hadn’t expected the usually gentle Samuel to have such a stark contrast. The tattoos and the title of “Prince of Jeriton City” felt oddly mismatched.
“Ms. Jamison, we didn’t get to finish our call earlier. Why were you driving out here today?”
Samuel felt the silence was too much, so as he led her, he made sure to keep the conversation going.
At the mention of it, Yvonne’s mood soured.
“There’s an auction at Tidalus, and a piece of my dad’s posthumous work is being sold. I wanted to buy it back, but then the
weather turned bad.
“And… my phone and car keys were taken. I ended up stuck here. Now I won’t be able to make it in time. Just another regret, I
guess.”
