Chapter 3
After her shower, Eliana stepped out of the bathroom and glanced at Theodore from a distance. He was lying on the bed with his eyes closed. He teemed to be asleep.
She thought, ‘I can finally get a break from that sharp tongue of his!
Letting out a sigh of relief, Eliana remembered she still had to work tomorrow, so she got ready for bed too.
But it had snowed in Covenhill today, and there was no heater in the room. Eliana had to quietly check all the cabinets, only to find that the one and only blanket was on Theodore.
Even though he had a bad temper and was really mean, she still couldn’t bring herself to fight a patient over a blanket. After thinking about it, she pulled a winter coat from her suitcase and went to sleep on the couch.
A long while later, after Eliana had fallen asleep, Theodore suddenly opened his eyes in bed.
Under the dim wall lamp, the light cast shadows over Theodore’s striking features. There wasn’t a trace of dullness in those brooding eyes.
The next second, he sat up quietly and looked coldly at Eliana sleeping on the couch.
The girl he had just married was beautiful. Her features were delicate, and the skin visible outside the coat was flawless, carrying the youthful glow
unique to a young woman her age.
Eliana didn’t seem to be sleeping well. Her petite feet were curled up under the coat, like she was freezing.
Just then, a sharp pain hit Theodore, and his vision fell back into complete darkness.
He had only started seeing again yesterday. The window of clarity didn’t last long, but it was enough for him to see the true colors of the people around
him.
The car accident hadn’t just taken away Theodore’s sight–it had also cost him the control of Russell Group. Even the girlfriend he had loved for years had ended up in his enemy’s arms. He had lost everything.
Theodore thought, ‘And now tonight, there’s just one more person here to laugh at my misery. Why would I ever treat her kindly?‘
Because of the new environment, Eliana woke up before her alarm went off the next morning.
She glanced at Theodore first. Seeing that he was still asleep, she quietly walked to the window to check if the snow had stopped. But when she pulled open the curtain, all she saw was a wall.
Jt hit her a beat later–this room didn’t have a single real window.
Even though she didn’t have feelings for Theodore, Eliana couldn’t help but start to wonder, ‘Living in a place like this would feel suffocating for anyone, let alone someone recovering. Or maybe he shut himself away on purpose after going blind?‘
She couldn’t resist turning to look at Theodore again, only to see that he was already awake, staring straight in her direction. His eyes w blank, with no emotion at all; and for some reason, it felt eerie.
She jumped a little, then greeted him, “Good morning. Did I wake you?”
Theodore replied expressionlessly, “What do you think?”
mpletely
Eliana hadn’t expected him to be such a light sleeper. She had already moved around as quietly as she could, so she said, “Sorry. I’ll be more careful next time.”

Chapter 3
Theodore let out a cold snort and turned his back to her, not wanting to waste his breath on her.
But the next second, Eliana’s gentle voice sounded again. “Mr. Russell, can I ask you something?”
A cold smile tugged at Theodore’s lips. “You’re already showing your true colors? Trying to make a deal?”
Eliana shook her head. “You’ve got it wrong. I just wanted to ask if we could maybe replace the wall behind you with a floor–to–ceiling window
With his back still to her, Theodore’s expression suddenly shifted into something unreadable. “What did you just say?”
