Chapter 9
For all his arrogance, Jayden was still just a fourteen–year–old boy.
Seeing that he was a head shorter than her, Eliana calmly said, “As long as you leave, I’ll give your slingshot right back.”
Jayden stood on his tiptoes and snapped viciously, “You’re threatening me? Aren’t you afraid I’ll go tell Mommy?”
To be honest, Eliana didn’t want to go against Lainey. But right now, her job was to take care of Theodofe, so she said, “Then I’ll tell her the truth too- that you bullied Theodore first.”
Jayden rolled his eyes. “Idiot. You think my mommy’s gonna blame me over that blind freak? Get a clue and just give–Owl”
Theodore, who had been standing motionless since Eliana arrived, suddenly walked over and grabbed Jayden by the back of his collar, lifting him clean off the ground.
Jayden’s face instantly turned pale, If he hadn’t been so busy arguing with Eliana just now, he wouldn’t have let Theodore follow his voice so easily
“You blind freak, put me down right now, or I’ll tell Mommy not to let you eat tomorrow either,” Jayden shouted.
But no matter how much Jayden screamed and kicked in midair, Theodore’s fingers only tightened around the collar of his shirt. That once–arrogant face was soon red with panic and fear.
As things started heading toward a point of no return, Eliana had no choice but to speak to the man in front of her who looked ready to kill. “Mr. Russell, maybe that’s enough.”
As annoying as Jayden was, if Theodore kept holding on like that, he really might kill him.
Hearing that, Theodore turned his head toward Eliana and asked in a hoarse voice, “You want me to let him go?”
As he spoke, the blood on his forehead slipped down along his brow, making him look even more terrifying. Eliana could only answer carefully, “Your forehead’s injured. Let me stop the bleeding for you, okay?”
Upon hearing that, Theodore actually let go, letting Jayden fall onto the carpet with a thud.
Jayden froze for a second, then scrambled toward the door while clutching his sore backside. He then pointed at them, coughing. “You blind freak. And you, dumb wretch. This isn’t over.”
Eliana’s brows furrowed. She thought, ‘Is he serious? If I hadn’t distracted Theodore just now, he would’ve been strangled to death. Where’s he getting the energy to bark like that?‘
Just then, a gentle male voice–came from outside the door. “Jayden, what are you doing in Theodore’s room?”
Jayden turned around, and the fear on his face instantly shifted into delight. “Anthony, Alice, you’re here.”
Hearing that, Eliana instinctively looked up at the man and woman standing at the door.
At the same time, Theodore’s jaw quietly tensed, his fists clenching tight.
Anthony walked in with the woman beside him–Alice Powell. He glanced at the injury on Theodore’s forehead, then immediately understood. “Jayden, you were messing with Theodore again.”
“I wasn’t. He’s the one who bullied me. And her too. Anthony, teach them a lesson for me.” Jayden twisted the truth as he went and even tried to drag Eliana into it.
As Jayden spoke, Anthony looked at Eliana/She was just about to explain when he gave her a small smile–almost like he was trying to reassure her.
Then Anthony looked down at Jayden and said, “Enough. Mom’s looking for you. Go on.”

Jayden grumbled, “Fine. Then he walked out while rubbing his sore butt.
Eliana thought, “Wow. This brat actually listens to Anthony.‘
