Chapter 18
When Ellana returned to Russell Manor, Lainey was sitting in the living room having coffee Ellana greeted her, “Hi, Lainey
Lainey glanced at the takeout in her hand and replied flatly, “HI.”
The next second, Wyatt, who was standing behind Lainey, said, “Mrs. Eliana Russell, the person

“What? Okay.” Eliana nodded, then said to Lainey, “I’m heading upstairs.”
“Go ahead.” Lainey had nothing more to say,
After Eliana left, Wyatt couldn’t help remarking, “Mrs. Lainey Russell,
she really is standing by Mr. Theodore Russell.
Lainey raised her coffee cup, ends up dead one day.”

Upstairs on the second floor, Eliana had just walked into Theodore’s room when she saw a doctor in a white coat examining his eyes. Not wanting to interrupt, she stood quietly to the side and
atched.
When the doctor turned around, Eliana finally saw his face–he was young and good–looking. The moment he spotted her, he greeted her first, “Hello, you must be Mr. Russell’s wife.”
Eliana thought, ‘That’s a stretch. I might be Theodore’s wife, but I’m really just a glorified caretaker.‘
So she didn’t act like she had any special status. “Just call me Eliana. And you are?”
“I’m Samuel Wilson,” he said.
“Dr. Wilson, nice to meet you.” Eliana nodded.
After a few polite exchanges, Samuel suddenly changed the subject. “Mrs. Russell, may I ask how Mr. Russell got the injury on his forehead?”
Eliana didn’t want to take the blame for Jayden, so she said, “Some brat hit him with a rock.”
Samuel looked surprised. “And you just stood there and watched Mr, Russell get hit?”
Eliana quickly explained, “Of course not. I just got back late. If I’d been there, I would’ve stopped it right away.”
Samuel nodded. “Good. I hope next time you can keep that courage and stop it before it happens.”
Eliana couldn’t shake the feeling that she’d just been warned.
—“Also, if I may ask, what’s going on with Mr. Russell’s hair?” Samuel asked.
Eliana couldn’t help glancing at Theodore. His hair was flat on one side and sticking up on the other.
The reason, of course, was that she’d only managed to blow–dry one side last night. He’d been lying on the other side the whole time, so it ended up looking like this mess.
Eliana thought, ‘Still, why couldn’t he just comb it himself?‘
If Theodore could hear what she was thinking right now, he’d probably scoff. After all, he couldn’t see and there was no way he could comb his own hair
Samuel questioned, “Mrs. Russell, you didn’t help Mr. Russell get ready before you headed out?”
Under Samuel’s moral pressure, Eliana scratched her head awkwardly. “Well, he kept saying he could manage on his own.”

“Alright, I’ll be more mindful from now on,” Eliana had no choice but to agree. After all, Samuel was representing Theodon’s pandiath.
someone she could afford to offend.
Then Samuel’s gaze landed on the bag in Eliana’s hand. “What’s that?”
“This is dinner. I bought it for Mr. Russell,” Eliana said, sounding quite proud. Inside, she was laughing, ‘Bet Dr. Wilson didn’t expect this from mession how well I take care of Theodore.‘
Samuel asked, “Would you mind opening it so I can take a look?”
“Sure.” Eliana opened the takeout packaging and let Samuel see for himself.
To be honest, it was a pretty balanced meal–meat, vegetables, even soup. She was actually quite satisfied with it.
But after looking at it, Samuel seemed hesitant. “Well…”
“What is it, Dr. Wilson?” Eliana asked.
Samuel said, “Mrs. Russell, I’ll be blunt. Takeout is way too greasy. It’s not good for Mr. Russell’s recovery.”
