Chapter 16 Take Julissa Home
Julissa knew Reece couldn’t see her as the window was up, but she still felt intimidated.
“Reece, what makes you chase me down? You want a race?”
With a gloomy face, Reece ignored Zayne.
“Julissa, get out of the car!”
His tone was angry as if he was about to snap. No one could handle the consequences.
Julissa flinched and reached for the door handle.
Zayne stopped her.
“Julie is a designer of the Fowler Group now. Reece, there are rules even you can’t break. For one, you can’t steal the Fowler family’s employee,”
Zayne brought his family up to make Reece back off. So far, the Diaz family had respected the Fowler family.
But Reece never followed the protocols.
He frowned and parroted Zayne.
“Julie?”
Reece tilted his head slightly, his sharp gaze boring into Julissa as though she was behind the window. “How inti- mate.”
Frightened by Reece’s dark gaze, Julissa didn’t dare to take her chances and got out of the car.
“I’m taking her away,” Reece looked at Zayne in distaste. “Mr. Fowler, you want to have a fight with my men or go home directly?”
The men in black around Reece took a step forward, all looking ready to pounce.
Reece was the man who took over the Serpent Gang easily. He was capable of everything.
Julissa hurriedly stepped forward, not wanting Zayne to get hurt.
“I’ll come home with you.”
Zayne wanted to object, but Julissa shot him a look.
She gestured for him to check his phone later.
Zayne got the message.

“OK. I’d go.” Zayne shrugged and said in sarcasm, “I may as well invite Cristina out for a meal and ask her if she knows her fiancée has stolen someone else’s woman.”
With that said, the Rolls–Royce disappeared from their sight.
Reece strode over and shoved Julissa into his car without a word.
Julissa had bumped her arm in the car when she was on Oak Street. Reece’s rough action made her wince out loud.
The knit between Reece’s brows loosened. He got into the car and sat down next to Julissa before rolling her sleeve
- up.
A bruise had formed on her arm.
For once, uncertainty flashed in Reece’s dark eyes.

He knew there was a consequence to each of his actions. And he believed he could handle it.
But he forgot about Julissa.
Reece never meant to hurt Julissa.
“To the hospital.”
The engine roared as Reece ordered. His tone was flat.
Julissa extracted her arm and forced a smile. “Not necessary. It’s not a big deal.”
“Do you have other injuries?” Reece still sounded cold, but his voice lacked the usual harshness and distance.
Julissa shook her head.
“It’s fine. Really.”
Reece stubbornly took her to a hospital. It was just a bruise. But he asked for a VIP ward and an expert.
During the treatment, Reece stood on the side, his cold gaze never leaving Julissa.
For a moment, Julissa thought he cared.
After the doctor left, Julissa couldn’t help but ask.
“Reece, if I died earlier, would you feel guilty?”
Julissa immediately felt stupid for asking this question. This was Reece Diaz, the man who killed his way to the top. Why would he feel guilty for her?
“Yes.”
One word and Julissa froze.

She didn’t understand what made Reece change. She didn’t dare to think about it. So, she changed the subject.
“So, where are you taking me now that you have me?”
“Back to Harmony Villa.”
The ride to Harmony Villa was silent. The atmosphere in the car was suffocating.
Finally, Julissa spoke up…
“Why are you taking me back to Harmony Villa?”
“The divorce hasn’t been finalized.”
Julissa nodded. “So, once it does, I’ll have nothing to do with the Diaz family. And I can walk free, right?”
Her words sounded wrong to Reece. But it was the fact.

A satisfied light glimmered in Julissa’s eyes.
Using the phone she hid in her pocket, she sent a voice message via WhatsApp.
In Harmony Villa.
Julissa felt familiar and foreign at the same time.
“Reece.” Cristina was in a white dress. The elegant woman came over and wrapped her arm around Reece once she saw him.
Reece paused.
“What are you doing here?”
“I saw what happened in Oak Street on the news.” Cristina lowered her eyes. The worries in her eyes made her seem pitiful. “I was scared. Are you alright?”
Julissa heard it as she walked into the house behind Reece.
Julissa smiled at Cristina awkwardly. She waved as soon as she noticed Cristina’s hostile gaze.
“Calm down. Don’t get it wrong. Go on without me. I’m just back for my relative…” Julissa raised her voice. “Clara, you know.”
She meant to walk past the couple.
To her surprise, Reece decided not to keep up with the lie. “She’s not Clara’s relative. She’s my ex–wife.”
Julissa stopped dead as if she had been struck by lightning.
She wondered what had gotten into Reece.

Staring at Julissa’s tense posture, Reece was confused.
Julissa loved to mention that she was Clara’s relative as a way to show her displeasure.
He had told the truth. Why did she still seem unhappy?
Cristina knew the truth a long time ago. But she never expected Reece would blurt it out.

“Reece…” Cristina feigned surprise. Her slender fingers clutched her chest. As if it took great effort for her to say it, her voice was filled with pain. “How come?”
As Cristina looked like she was collapsing, Reece hurriedly helped her sit down on the couch.
He said gently with guilt, “I had to marry her because Grandpa made me.”
“Made him?” What a choice of words to prove his innocence.

Julissa’s fingernails were digging into her palm as she clenched her fists.
So, Reece was using her pain to help his relationship with Cristina?
Julissa wanted to yell and scream, but she couldn’t.
She took the glass on the table and gulped down the water.
Then she threw the glass on the floor. It shattered in pieces.
Cristina was frightened by the noise and buried herself in Reece’s arms. Reece’s expression was murderous.
“Julissa! What’s wrong with you?!”
Julissa walked upstairs while saying without looking back at them, her tone icy.
“Getting rid of it as it’s useless now. Reece, this is your style, no?”
