Chapter 20
The door opened.
Chelsea heard the footsteps. Thinking it was Wade, she grabbed a nearby glass vase, ready to attack first.
Suddenly, Winston felt the room spin, and in the next second, he caught Chelsea’s wrist; the vase fell to the ground, causing a loud bang.
Shards scattered everywhere.
A familiar male scent enveloped her, causing Chelsea to look up.
“Winston.” Recognizing the man, she felt relieved, her small hands firmly wrapped around his neck, her breathing slightly
rushed.
Thank goodness it’s you,” she gasped.
Luckily, it’s not Wade. Better to be in Winston’s hands than Wade’s. After all, this wasn’t our first time,‘ she said inwardly.
Winston held her waist, feeling her temperature abnormal. “You’re drugged?”
Chelsea couldn’t speak, beads of cold sweat forming on her forehead.
“Damn it!” Winston put her into the bathtub and turned on the shower.
Ice–cold water poured down. Chelsea instinctively shivered, her small hands tightly gripping the bathtub edge, her knuckles turning slightly pale.
Her phone plopped into the bathtub, completely ruined.
Winston stepped out of the bathroom and withdrew his phone to dial Fabian’s number. “Get a reliable doctor over.”
Hearing this, Fabian thought Winston was injured, asking in a hurry, “Mr. Moody, are you hurt?”
“Not me.”
“Okay, I’ll arrange it right away.” Fabian breathed a sigh of relief.
An older female doctor arrived quickly. Upon seeing Chelsea lying in the bathtub, she hesitated momentarily, then summoned her professional composure.
After the examination, she administered Chelsea a sedative shot.
Winston stood outside the door, hands behind his back. “Can you figure out what kind of drug she was given?”
“Probably some kind of perfume mixed with a potent aphrodisiac,” the female doctor sighed. “Luckily, no sex; otherwise, the effect would’ve been even stronger.
The doctor clearly knew her stuff, knowing Winston wasn’t the type to do something like this, and she was curious why the usually aloof Winston had stepped in to help.
Chelsea, injected with a sedative, was trembling all over.
Winston walked over to the bathtub, drained the cold water, and said, ‘Out.”

The doctor left, taking her place outside the suite just in case.

Winston quickly gave Chelsea a thorough wash, wrapped her in a towel, placed her on the bed, and tucked her in. Finishing, he was drenched in sweat.
Chelsea was quiet for about an hour before she started moaning again.
The doctor gave her another sedative shot, and she finally calmed down completely.
Winston, soaked through, was handed a change of clothes by Fabian. “Mr. Moody, please change into these clothes.”
“Look into what happened today.”
“Understood.” Fabian got the hint immediately.
The doctor left behind a sedative and then departed.
As Winston came out of the bathroom, Fabian knocked and entered. “Mr. Moody, we’ve found out. It was Margot. They used Mrs. Wise’s mother’s belongings as leverage, forcing Ms. Wise to honor the appointment.”
When Fabian discovered this, he found it hard to believe.
As a family, they resorted to such vicious poison, even involving Wade Tucker, Chelsea’s ex–boyfriend of four years, in this vile act.
Winston’s gaze fell upon Chelsea; she had calmed down, her cheeks returning to their normal temperature, her eyes closed in peace, though her breathing remained slightly hurried.
“Leave.” Winston waved a hand.
Receiving the order, Fabian bowed and exited. Meanwhile, Winston walked to the bedside, gazing at Chelsea for a long while without speaking.
Several hours later, Chelsea woke up in an unfamiliar room.
Propping herself up, she saw Winston by the window in a video meeting. She wanted to speak, opening her mouth only to find her throat burning.
Winston heard the noise and stopped the meeting. “You are up.” He poured a cup of water and handed it to her. “Have some
water.
Chelsea took the cup, the water soothing her throat and tongue, easing the sharp pain. After a long while, she finally spoke with her hoarse voice. “Winston, thank you.”
He had saved her again.
Winston poured another cup of water. “Have some more.”
Chelsea drank another cup before finally recovering. Something important suddenly popped into her mind. “Why are you here?”
“I had an appointment with a client here, but the client stood me up, and you showed up instead.”
Chelsea exhaled a deep breath, wanting to get out of bed. However, she felt utterly drained of strength, her legs barely able

to move.

“The doctor said the medication’s too strong, you need to rest,” Winston stopped her from getting up.
“Did you book an hourly room?” Chelsea shook her head.
Winston was left puzzled, frowning.
“The room rate at Crown Holiday Hotel is very high,” Chelsea considered for Winston, suggesting, “You should take me home instead. Let’s go back.”
Crown Holiday Hotel was a renowned five–star establishment where room rates often reached five figures. They couldn’t afford it.
Winston was left speechless at the words. He reached out and pressed his hand on her shoulder. “Just rest; the company will cover it.”
“Really?” Chelsea asked, surprised that his company would reimburse the five–figure room rate.
“You haven’t even told me yet, which company you work for.” Chelsea stared at Winston, suspecting he was lying–what kind of company could be so generous?
“A financial company,” Winston replied casually.
Relieved of her doubts, Chelsea patted her body but couldn’t find her phone. “Where’s my phone?” she questioned.
“It fell into the water,” Winston said, standing up to retrieve a brand–new phone from the coffee table. “Here’s a new one; I’ve also reissued your SIM card for you.”
Chelsea accepted the SIM card with a “Thank you.” She then made a call to Kate with her new phone.
As soon as the call connected, Kate’s voice came through, tinged with a sob, faintly punctuated by the clamor of approaching footsteps. “Chelsea, is that you? I’m at Crown Holiday Hotel. Where are you? I had a meeting this afternoon, and after seeing your message, I’ve been searching for you for hours. Where are you?”
“I’m at the hotel. I’ll send you my room number.” Chelsea’s voice was hoarse. “Don’t worry. I’m fine.”
As Winston gazed at her face, his phone rang–it was Fabian.
He had a business trip and it was time to leave.
He closed his laptop, placed it in his briefcase, and looked at Chelsea. “I’m going on a business trip for a few days. Make sure to get some rest. See you soon.”
Chelsea ended her call and looked at him. “Winston, thank you. When you get back, I’ll treat you to a big dinner, okay?”
Having been rescued by him multiple times, she wanted to treat him to a sumptuous meal to express her gratitude.
Winston, usually so detached, showed an unusual softness. “Whatever you like.”
No sooner had he left than Kate burst in, hugging Chelsea and sobbing loudly. “You scared me to death. You scared me to death-”
Chelsea was at a loss whether to laugh or cry, comforting her, “Alright, I’m fine now.”
Having wept her fill, Kate wrapped her arms around Chelsea’s neck. “This is a presidential suite. How could you afford it?”

“My husband…” Chelsea explained, “is here for a conference, and the company is covering the expenses.”
Kate found it hard to believe, ‘Aside from Nova Group, is there such a generous company to reimburse for a five–figure hotel bill so easily?!‘
“Anyway, that’s not the point. Did Margot bully you?” Kate cupped Chelsea’s face. “What’s Wade thinking, just standing by and letting her scheme against you?”
‘Damn it!‘ she cursed inwardly. Back then, she actually thought Wade genuinely liked Chelsea. “Chelsea, should you have known the kind of person Wade is, you should’ve let him rot in hell in that kidnapping back then!”
