Chapter 38
Hugo had always been obsessed with reputation. Even though Felix had been tirelessly searching for the Miracle Doctor, no one had ever actually bene this mythical figure. In truth, the so–called Miracle Doctor was nothing more than a fictional creation.
Without hesitation, Hugo brazenly claimed the title for himself, basking in the attention as if it were his rightful crown.
Joanna’s excitement was written all over her face, her cheeks flushed as she exclaimed, “Mr. Quill, I knew it! There are plenty of skilled doctors here, but none of them can hold a candle to you. You must be the legendary Miracle Doctor!”
Hank, hearing Hugo’s admission, clung to it like a lifeline. He stepped forward, his voice trembling with urgency. “Please, Miracle Doctor, save my dad. He’s been out of it since yesterday, and every hospital we’ve gone to has told us to prepare for the worst…
Hugo glanced at Felix, slumped in the wheelchair, his breathing faint and his cheeks unnaturally flushed. Recognizing the symptoms of heart trouble, Hugo nodded with confidence. “Don’t worry. Leave it to me.”
The Farren family was a powerhouse, even on a national level. If Hugo could win their favor, his path to success would be smooth sailing.
He casually pointed toward a nearby lounge. “Take him in there. I need to check his pulse first.”
Seeing a glimmer of hope, Hank wasted no time and quickly wheeled his father into the lounge.
Joanna hurried to catch up, and just then, she spotted Sylvia walking toward her.
“Sylvia, guess what? You won’t believe Mr. Quill is the Miracle Doctor!” Joanna’s voice brimmed with pride, her eyes practically glowing with self- satisfaction.
“I’ll let you in on a little secret,” she said, lowering her voice as if sharing something exclusive. “With the Miracle Doctor helping us, our family’s medical patches will be ready in no time!”
Joanna had always been quietly competing with Sylvia, convinced that her family’s medical patches would outshine Sylvia’s by a mile.
Sylvia’s expression shifted, a faint smirk tugging at her lips. “Funny, I could’ve sworn the Miracle Doctor was a woman. Or did I miss something?”
Joanna scoffed, waving her hand dismissively. “Sylvia, you’ve never even met the Miracle Doctor. How can you be so sure whether it’s a man or a
woman?”
Her voice carried just loud enough for the surrounding crowd to overhear, and soon, murmurs spread. Envious glances followed Joanna, as though she
herself were the Miracle Doctor.
Sylvia frowned, her brows knitting together. “Joanna, this isn’t a joke. Are you sure Mr. Quill can really cure Mr. Farren?”
Joanna’s confidence only grew. “Sylvia, don’t worry about it! Mr. Quill is the Miracle Doctor! What illness can’t he cure?”
Sylvia’s face hardened. She thought, ‘This is about Mr. Farren’s life. I can’t just stand by and do nothing.‘ She instinctively moved toward the lounge, determined to see for herself how Hugo was treating him.
Joanna quickly blocked her path. “Sylvia, Mr. Quill is inside treating a patient. He doesn’t want anyone disturbing him. Please stay outside, okay?” Turning to a few familiar faces nearby, she added, “Help me keep things orderly and make sure no one goes in.”
With that, Joanna strutted into the lounge and promptly shut the door behind her.
Now, even if Sylvia wanted to check on what was happening inside, she had no way to do so.
Frustrated but unwilling to give up, Sylvia returned to her booth, hoping someone would take an interest in the medical patches she had on display.
At that moment, two adorable kids, Zack and Ruby, walked into the hall hand–in–hand, the
eyes darting around curiously.

“Ruby, do you know where your mom is?” Zack asked hesitantly.
Zack instinctively tightened his grip on Ruby’s hand. Just thinking about Sylvia made his heart race nervously. “Sylvia still hasn’t forgiven me What if she sees me and kicks me out?‘ he thought.
“I don’t know either…” Ruby replied.
Her two playful pigtails bounced with every step she took, swaying like little pendulums.
Hér big, sparkling eyes scanned the room before she turned to Jolie who had brought them here. With a hopeful look, she asked, “Jolie, do you know
where my mom is?”
“You two wait here for me. I’ll go find Ms. Sullivan,” Jolie said, pointing to a row of booths nearby. She reminded them not to wander off before striding toward the pharmaceutical displays ahead.
Zack and Ruby obediently sat down near the lounge area. A small crowd had gathered at the lounge entrance, buzzing with excitement as they chatted
about someone called the Miracle Doctor.
“I can’t believe it! Mr. Quill is the legendary Miracle Doctor!”
“Yeah, there are so many rumors about the Miracle Doctor. I wish I could see how Mr. Quill is treating Mr. Farren!”
The crowd, mostly people from major pharmaceutical companies and hospitals, craned their necks, eager to catch a glimpse of what was happening inside the lounge. But the frosted glass turned everything into hazy shadows, leaving them craning their necks in vain.
Ruby, sitting nearby, shot to her feet the moment she heard the words “Miracle Doctor“. Her eyes widened in shock as she stared toward the lounge.
“Ruby, what’s wrong?” Zack asked, standing up in confusion.
Ruby pointed angrily at the lounge with her tiny finger. “Zack, someone’s pretending to be my mom! That’s so wrong!”
Zack froze for a moment. “Ruby, what do you mean? What’s the Miracle Doctor got to do with your mom?”
Ruby pouted, her voice filled with frustration. “Because the Miracle Doctor is my mom!”
Zack’s eyes widened in disbelief. He glanced at Ruby, whose little face was flushed with urgency, and a strange thought crossed his mind. He believed her without question.
Zack thought, ‘Whoa, Sylvia is amazing!
‘Wait, she’s not only Ruby’s mom, but she’s also my mom!
‘How dare someone pretend to be my mom? That’s just messed up!‘
“The person inside isn’t the Miracle Doctor at all! You’ve all been fooled!” Zack held Ruby’s small hand tightly, and the two of them dashed toward the lounge door.
The crowd glanced over. Seeing that it was just two kids, they didn’t take it seriously and thought it was just kids messing around. They urged them to leave quickly.
Inside the lounge.
Hugo checked Felix’s pulse as he sat slumped in his wheelchair. Under Hank’s anxious gaze, Hugo pulled a pill from his pocket.
“Don’t worry, Mr. Farren. Your dad just has a minor heart issue. This Heart Tonic will get his blood flowing properly, and he’ll wake up in no time,” said Hugo.
Since Felix was still unconscious, Hugo dissolved the pill in warm water and carefully fed it to him.

A few seconds later, Felix’s eyes slowly opened.
Joanna gasped in delight. “Mr. Quill, your medicine is incredible! He woke up so quickly!”
Hugo smirked, clearly pleased with himself. In his mind, Felix’s condition was nothing serious. A simple heart strengthening pill was all it took.
Just as Hugo was savoring his victory, Felix’s face turned bright red. He started coughing violently, spewing blood, then collapsed back into his wheelchair, his eyelids drooping.
Hank’s face turned pale as he grabbed Hugo by the collar, his voice trembling with anger. “What did you give my dad?”
Hugo’s confidence crumbled. He stammered, “I–I swear. It was just Heart Tonic! It’s a mix of regular heart pills from the pharmacy. This shouldn’t be happening!”
Frantically, Hugo checked Felix’s pulse again, only to find it completely erratic. His hands shook, and beads of sweat rolled down his forehead as fear gripped him.
Hank’s suspicion turned to fury. He glared at Hugo, his voice sharp. “Are you really the Miracle Doctor?”
Hugo wiped the sweat from his face, his lips parting as he struggled to respond, but no words came out.
Suddenly, the door burst open with a loud bang. Zack stormed in, his voice urgent as he addressed Hank. “You’ve been tricked! He’s not the Miracle Doctor! I know who the real one is!”
