Chapter 40
Chapter 40
“Sylvia, my grandpa’s suddenly really sick. Can you take a look at him?” Zander’s voice on the phone was filled with urgency
Sylvia paused for a moment. “Your grandpa? Where is he now?”
Keeping her expression calm, she glanced at Hank and Felix in the wheelchair across from her. A flicker of something strange crossed her eyes ‘Could it really be this much of a coincidence?‘ she wondered.
Hank overheard the phone conversation and, shocked, walked over to Sylvia, gesturing for her to hand him the phone.
“Zander? It’s me!” said Hank.
“Uncle Hank? Why are you with Sylvia?” Zander’s voice was full of surprise, but he quickly added, “Uncle Hank, Sylvia is the Miracle Doctor you’ve been searching for! Hurry and ask her to check on Grandpa!”
Hank’s eyes widened in disbelief. After he hung up the phone, his expression turned serious. “Ms. Sullivan, I apologize for my earlier behavior. I didn’t realize you were truly the Miracle Doctor.”
“I told you my mom is the Miracle Doctor, but none of you believed me!” Zack exclaimed, his small head held high, his eyes shining with admiration as he looked at Sylvia.
He thought, ‘Mom is incredible! They didn’t believe her before, but now they have no choice but to admit it!”
Yet, for some reason, Zack quietly lowered his head.
He thought about the times Sylvia cared for him, how her medicine always worked like magic whenever he was sick.
But he had never trusted her, just like these people who doubted her now.
Even then, she always loved him, until the day he broke her heart, and she left.
Tears welled up in his eyes as he wiped them away quickly, his small hands trembling. He looked up at Sylvia with red, watery eyes, wondering if she
could ever forgive him.

Sylvia remained calm as she looked at Hank. “Mr. Farren, since you’re Zander’s uncle and Mr. Felix Farren is his grandfather, there’s no need for formalities. I’ll check on him first.”
Without another word, she walked over to the wheelchair, ready to check Felix’s pulse.
Before she could proceed, Joanna stepped forward, blocking her path.
“Sylvia, are you really the so–called Miracle Doctor?” Joanna’s tone was sharp, her eyes full of doubt. “I get that Zander is close to you and would vouch for you, but Mr. Felix Farren is in critical condition. You can’t afford to mess this up.”
Joanna didn’t believe for a second that Sylvia was the Miracle Doctor. In her mind, Zander was just covering for her, trying to help her snatch the title.
To Joanna, Sylvia was nothing more than a fraud pretending to be something she wasn’t.
“Move!” Sylvia’s voice was cold and commanding.
Felix was hanging by a thread, and yet Joanna was letting personal grudges get in the way. Sylvia found it infuriating.
Hugo stepped in, pulling Joanna aside. He leaned in and whispered with a sly smirk, “Miss Moore,
her?”

Felix was already on his last breath, beyond saving.

Chapter 40
If Sylvia wanted to take on this impossible task, Hugo was more than happy to let her dig her own grave.
Once Felix died under Sylvia’s care, all the blame would fall squarely on her. Meanwhile, Hugo could continue hasking in the glory of being the My sele
Doctor.
Joanna caught on to Hugo’s plan and nodded subtly, a cold smile creeping onto her face
Exactly. If Sylvia was so eager to ruin herself, why stop her?
Sylvia, however, paid no attention to their schemes. She just wanted to save Felix.
Sylvia quickly checked Felix’s pulse, her expression turning grave.
His coma was caused by blocked blood flow, worsened by his frail health and old age. His organs were already beginning to fail because he couldn’t
catch his breath in time.
“Sylvia, do you even know what’s wrong with him? You’ve been taking so long already. Even if you call an ambulance now, it won’t make it in time.” Joanna sighed dramatically, her tone dripping with feigned helplessness.
“Joanna, can you just stop? You’re only making it harder for my mom to save him!” Zack snapped, glaring at her.
He used to think Joanna was kind, but now she was just plain insufferable. Sylvia was focused on helping Felix, yet Joanna kept interrupting.
And honestly, if she already knew an ambulance wouldn’t make it, why say it and stress Sylvia out even more?
“Zack, you’ve got it all wrong…” Joanna stammered, her face turning red as she tried to explain herself. But Zack had already turned away, ignoring her completely.
Everyone’s attention shifted to Sylvia, who remained calm and focused.
Sylvia knew Felix’s condition. She asked Hank to help move Felix to the table in the middle.
“Mr. Farren, could you unbutton your dad’s shirt and expose his chest?” Sylvia’s voice was calm but firm.
Without hesitation, she reached into her shoulder bag and pulled out a sleek, rectangular box. When she opened it, rows of silver needles of varying lengths gleamed under the light.
Hugo watched her with a cold smirk, his eyes filled with disdain.
“Acupuncture? Really, Ms. Sullivan? That’s just a gimmick for sore backs and stiff joints. You seriously think you can bring someone back from the brink of death with a few needles?” sneered Hugo.
Joanna, standing nearby, nodded slightly, her expression thoughtful. She had tried acupuncture before for minor ailments and shared Hugo’s skepticism. To her, the idea of saving someone with needles was nothing short of absurd.
Joanna’s lips curled into a sly smile. She was ready to watch Sylvia’s so–called “miracle” crash and burn.
But Sylvia stayed calm. Her eyes were steady and her movements were precise. She quickly sterilized the silver needles and focused on Felix’s exposed chest. With a gentle but firm touch, she guided the first needle into place.
The center of the chest, the gateway to vitality, and the palace of life, each needle struck a critical point with unerring precision.
In Sylvia’s hands, the silver needles seemed to come alive. One after another, they struck their marks with incredible accuracy, as if g force.
Hugo’s smirk froze, his eyes widening in disbelief. “No… it can’t be… the Eight Needles?” he muttered, his voice trembling slightly.
He thought, ‘Impossible! She’s so young. How could she have mastered a technique that’s been lost for generations?

‘Each needle carried immense risk, and even the slightest mistake in force or angle could spell disaster, potentially ending Felix’s file on the spot
Joanna, clueless about the significance of the Eight Needles, stood by with her arms crossed, still waiting for the “show” to flop.
But then, as Sylvia placed the final needle, the miracle happened.
Felix’s pale complexion began to regain a faint flush of color, and his shallow, uneven breathing grew steady and rhythmic.
Felix coughed a few times. His eyelids fluttered, and then, his eyes slowly opened.
