Yvonne was still very concerned when she saw Samuel’s weak appearance. In the end, she could only make the worst choice
available.
“How can I be comfortable leaving with you like this, Mr. Hover?”
“It’s alright. I’m not very hungry anyway,” said Samuel.
However, he pressed his hand to his stomach as he said so. Seeing is, Yvonne sighed and walked back over to him even though she’d been about to leave.
She glanced at the medicine that they’d picked up from the hospital and said, “The anti–inflammatory medicine and the painkillers need to be taken after meals. Do you have food in the fridge?
“I haven’t eaten breakfast either, so I’ll just take it as you treating he to a meal in return for cooking for you.”
Samuel looked up at her with a smile in his eyes. “Did you also not sleep well last night, Ms. Jamison? You should just go back.”
“Do you not want to treat me to a meal, Mr. Hover?” she countered
Samuel crumbled in the end, unable to stop himself from accepting Yvonne’s offer. “Alright. I’ll be looking forward to your homemade breakfast then, Ms. Jamison.”
“I’ll take a look at your kitchen first,” said Yvonne. She opened the fridge and wasn’t surprised to find it empty.
“I’ll get the household staff to send ingredients over. What would you like to eat, Ms. Jamison?” asked Samuel.
“Chicken noodle soup. Eating a bowl of steaming hot food for breakfast is the best way to warm the stomach, and noodles are also easy to digest.”
Samuel couldn’t suppress the joy in his voice. “Sounds delicious. I get the household staff to send you the ingredients you
need.”
Soon, the household staff delivered the fresh ingredients to them.
“What do you want me to do?” asked Samuel.
“Thanks, but I can handle things myself,” replied Yvonne.
She carried the ingredients into the kitchen, warning Samuel with her eyes to stay put and not move around casually. Otherwise, his injury would be discovered.
She put on her apron, then set the water to boil while she washed and cut up the ingredients.
As Samuel listened to the sounds coming from the kitchen from where he was seated in the living room, he suddenly thought that Hover Estate felt like home.
He couldn’t help turning sideways to watch Yvonne at work in the open kitchen. “Your cooking skills are really good, Ms. Jamison. Your movements are practiced and efficient.”
“I quite like cooking,” explained Yvonne. “When I was young, my family had household staff around to make us meals too, and Mom was a really good cook. I pretty much never had the opportunity to cook, but I just liked going to the workshop with Dad and following Mom into the kitchen.”
Even as Yvonne chatted with Samuel about her childhood, her hands never stopped moving. After slicing the meat, she set to work chopping up the spring onions and other greens.
“Later on, I still enjoyed cooking for myself despite being very busy at work, though I hated doing the dishes.”
Samuel nodded contemplatively. It looked like he would have to start learning how to do the dishes.
“Can I come in to watch?” he asked. “I’m a little curious.”

“Just be careful of your injury.”
Yvonne started cooking in earnest. She first added the chicken stock to the pot, then sautéed the vegetables and added those in too, and then seasoned the broth with salt and some other condiments.
The color of the soup made it look very appetizing. Once she deemed the timing was right, she added the noodles, chicken slices, and spring onions to the pot.
Finally, she left the broth to simmer for another minute. Once the noodles were cooked just right, she ladled the chicken noodle soup into two bowls.
The more Samuel watched, the hungrier he became. “It smells delicious.”
“It’s hot, so be careful,” warned Yvonne.
The two of them carried their own bowls to the table and sat down to eat.
“The noodles are cooked just right, and the soup base is also delicious,” commented Samuel, clearly quite the food lover.

When Yvonne tasted her own dish, she found it tasted really good too, so she accepted his praise with a nod.
They dug into their food, neither of them speaking until they’d finished their noodles.
After they were done eating, Samuel quickly got up to take Yvonne’s bowl from her when he saw her getting up to collect their bowls. “You’re still my guest, Ms. Jamison. Considering you made breakfast for me, I simply can’t let you wash the dishes too.”
Yvonne attempted to stop him. “Well, I can’t let an injured person do the dishes either, Mr. Hover.”
Samuel was startled for a moment, but he then explained awkwardly, “I still don’t know how to do the dishes, but I’ll get a maid to clean up later, so please just leave the dishes aside.”
