Chapter 102
“Alright,” Yvonne said at last.

She glanced at the clock, then poured a glass of water and placed the medicine that Samuel needed to take on the table. “You should take a day off from work today, Mr. Hover. Please take the medicine and get some more rest.”
“Okay,” Samuel said agreeably. Just as he turned to walk back over to her, his phone rang “Let me take this call first.”
It was a call from Liam, informing him that all company affairs had to be postponed.
Samuel inadvertently glanced toward the estate’s garden, where the gardeners were currently tending to the flowers. The champagne–colored roses were blooming rather beautifully.
He became lost in thought, trying to think of an excuse to give Yvonne a bouquet of flowers.
However, before he could ask one of the staff to pick some flowers, he received another call.
He didn’t have the number saved, but he remembered that this was the number Yvonne had called when she’d contacted Isabel yesterday.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, then accepted the call.
After hanging up, he called out to Yvonne, “Ms. York just called. I told her that you were here, and she said she’s coming over to pick you up.”
Yvonne nodded. “I just realized that the pine tree painting you wanted me to make an emerald sculpture out of is here. Yesterday, you told me that the emerald has already arrived, but there’s no rush.
“I’ll wait until your injury gets better, since I can’t start on carving the sculpture without the emerald anyway.”
They ended up talking about nothing but the emerald sculpture up until Isabel arrived in her car.
The Hover family’s household staff greeted Isabel politely as she walked over to Samuel and Yvonne, but she felt uncomfortable at receiving such treatment.
“Weren’t you taking care of him in the hospital, Yvvy? How did you end up getting abducted and brought back to his house?” she demanded.
When Yvonne saw the defensive look in Isabel’s eyes, she smiled and replied, “He didn’t ‘abduct‘ me. As you can see, I’m quite free to move around. Thanks for coming to pick me up.”
Isabel grumbled, “Well, as long as you’re alright. Can we go now?”
“Give me a second.”
Just as Yvonne turned back to say something to Samuel, she heard him instructing Dennis to retrieve Andrew’s posthumous work, which she’d left in Samuel’s car.
It made her realize that Samuel was a really attentive person.
Once the posthumous work was handed over to Isabel, she carefully placed it in her car.
Samuel then walked up to Yvonne and said gently, “You took care of me last night and even cooked for me just now Jamison, so please don’t feel guilty anymore. I’ll take care of myself and get well as soon as possible, so I hope that y this affect you anymore.”

won’t let
Yvonne quietly held her breath. She had indeed been feeling guilty and uneasy, but she hadn’t expected that Samuel had been ordering her around to make her feel less guilty about the incident.
“Can we really call it even with this?” she asked doubtfully.
“Yes. We’re friends, after all,” Samuel replied firmly.

“Have a good rest, then. I’ll be heading back first,” she said with a smile before getting into Isabel’s car.
As she did so, Samuel remained in the doorway, watching her.

Isabel was on high alert. Yvonne had been miserable in her last relationship, after all, so she had to be even more wary of men
now.
After driving away from Hover Estate, Isabel revealed, “I’ve retrieved your phone and car keys, Yvvy.”
Yvonne was startled, but she didn’t ask Isabel how she’d gotten them. If Isabel had gotten those things back, it meant that Jared had definitely staked out her house last night.
“Is the car insurance… enough to cover the damages?” she asked tentatively.
“Yes, there’s no problem on that end. But you’ll be without a car for the moment, so I’ll let you drive this one instead.”
“Okay. Thank you, my rich savior.”
Yvonne turned on her phone and noticed that it had been temporarily disabled, so she went through some steps to unlock it.
As she was working on that, they stopped at a red light.
Isabel couldn’t help but advise, “I don’t think you should visit Hover Estate alone, Yvvy. Just call me if anything comes up next time. I don’t want you to find yourself in dangerous situations anymore.”
“Samuel isn’t the dangerous one,” protested Yvonne. “The dangerous one is…”
She lowered her voice and murmured thoughtfully, “The dangerous one is the person I once knew and trusted a lot. He’s now become so unfamiliar and terrifying to me.”
