Gregory picked up his coffee and took a sip. Strangely, even though it was the flavor he’d always liked, there was a hint of bitterness to it. He immediately set the cup down and instructed Martin to brew another one.
Half an hour later, Edward brought over the divorce agreement for regory to review
“According to your prenuptial agreement, she’s not entitled to any of your assets after the divorce. Even if she takes legal action, we have over 80% chance of winning.”
Edward spoke with confidence. In his view, this was one of the simplest cases he’d ever handled, one that secured the greatest benefit for Gregory. Seeking validation, he asked, “What do you think, Mr. Sinclair?”
“Nothing much.” Gregory’s tone was cold.
The atmosphere instantly grew heavy.
Edward discreetly wiped away the sweat forming on his forehead, unsure of Gregory’s thoughts. “Then… is there anything you’d like to change?” he asked cautiously.
“Give her the duplex apartment in Castenea and add 50 million in tash ”
Edward was momentarily stunned. That apartment alone was worth tens of millions. With an additional 50 million in cash, Anathea would walk away with nearly a hundred million in assets
That was incredibly generous. It puzzled Edward because he was the one who’d drafted the prenuptial agreement back then, and not a single clause had been in Anathea’s favor. He’d always assumed Gregory didn’t care for her at all.
Yet, Gregory was now being unexpectedly generous, ensuring she was well taken care of.
“But I want custody of Xander.” Gregory’s tone changed–it was calm but left no room for negotiation.
Edward immediately understood. Gregory had only offered those things for the sake of getting custody of Xander. For a moment, Edward had thought Gregory might still have feelings for Anathea, Clearly, that wasn’t the case.
Edward read the revised agreement aloud to Gregory once more. “Mr. Sinclair, is there anything else that needs changing?”
“No,” Gregory replied indifferently,
He picked up the pen from the desk and pressed the tip of it on the paper, but he paused. As soon as he signed, Anathea would no longer be his wife. They would be nothing more than strangers from then on.
Though he didn’t want to, his mind drifted back to five years ago, the day he and Anathea had registered their marriage.
He’d deliberately refused to show up in person, staying in his car while Martin handed her the paperwork to sign alone.
It had been his way of humiliating her. Since she’d used such underhanded means to marry him, he’d had no intention of making it easy for her.
He’d left her alone at the city hall, watching from the shadows. He expected to see disappointment and sadness on her face- something that would grant him a twisted sense of satisfaction.
Yet, she’d shown neither disappointment nor unhappiness Instead, she’d simply picked up the pen and signed her name with quiet, solemn determination. At that moment, the fleeting sense of balance he’d gained from his petty revenge had shattered completely.
Edward had no idea what was going through Gregory’s mind. He glanced at his watch, Gregory had been hesitating for nearly ten minutes. Never before had Edward seen him take this long to take a decision.

It was already past office hours. Edward took a deep breath. “Me. Sinclair?”
Gregory snapped out of his thoughts and signed his name.

“Now, all that’s left is for Ms. Jacobson to sign, and the process will be complete. Shall I deliver the agreement to her?”
“No. I’ll give it to her myself.”
Gregory grabbed his coat and strade out of the office. He’d go low and hand Anathea the divorce papers. Then, he’d have her sign them so the divorce would be finalized.
Five years of entanglement would be erased in a single stroke, and they would go their separate ways.
After Gregory left, Edward hurriedly packed up his files to leave as well. While rushing, he accidentally knocked over a stack of documents on Gregory’s desk
