My company happened to have ongoing business with the Cheng Group.
To settle the mess Tiffany had made,
I conceded 30% of the profits on a recent collaborative project, and only then did the Cheng family back down.
That day, at the negotiation dinner, I drank glass after glass of champagne until I felt like I was going to pass out.
Finally, when Chairman Cheng himself said, “Alright, for Ms. Miller’s sake, we’ll let it go,”
A huge weight lifted off my shoulders.
Actually, I could have just walked away.
After all, I was now the stranger, Audrey Miller,
No longer the twin sister who was bled dry,
No longer the Miller family’s embarrassing, ugly daughter…
But I couldn’t do it.
I couldn’t resist the innate empathy of blood ties,
Couldn’t watch my closest relatives suffer and cry,
Even if they had once hurt me so deeply.
After settling the Cheng family issue, Tiffany cornered me right outside my company’s
entrance.
“You’re Audrey Miller, aren’t you!”

I feigned ignorance, clutching my bag and walking forward.
“You’re my sister!”
Tiffany’s words made my body tremble slightly.
*What? Did that girl figure it out?*
Just as I froze, momentarily speechless with dread, Tiffany leaped in front of me.

“Same name, same blood type, you secretly sent money to our family, and then you hemorrhaged hundreds of millions of dollars to shut the Cheng family up for me! Who else but my own sister would do that?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
I continued to walk, but Tiffany grabbed my arm.
“Then let me see if that scar is still there?”
When we were little, Tiffany and I were playing house, imitating adults cooking.
We accidentally burnt a heart–shaped scar onto my arm.
As a child, Tiffany would always tease me about that scar,
“Audrey! Even your scar is shaped like a heart, just for me!”
But now, that scar had become proof of my identity.
I struggled desperately, but Tiffany held on tight.
Just as we were about to break into a full–blown brawl, I swung my hand and slapped her
hard across the face.
“Is *that* how you thank your savior?” I snapped at her.
“Yes! I donated blood for you and spent hundreds of millions of dollars to shut the Chengs up, but who gave *you* the right to come to my company and hassle me? I don’t

have a good–for–nothing sister like you! If you make another scene, you’ll pay me back those hundreds of millions!”
My harsh words seemed to hit home, and Tiffany, for once, just slunk away quietly.
But who knew Tiffany only appeared to back down, secretly bribing one of my junior assistants to snag a strand of hair from my jacket to do a DNA test.
The day the test results came back was my birthday.
