Chapter 11
“Enough!”
I cut him off impatiently.
“I don’t need any of this, and neither does Lily.”
I stepped forward and took Liam’s hand.
“We have better options now. You should leave.”
I couldn’t understand why Jackson had come looking for me. He clearly loved Vanessa and their
child so much.
The rainy season arrived, and Liam, Lily, and I spent our days cooped up in the hotel reading, working, and playing games.
Jackson proved more persistent than I’d expected. He booked a room for an entire month, staying
right below us.
He would come up to check on us three times a day–morning, noon, and night–and the doorway was constantly piled with jewelry and flowers.
Liam wasn’t happy about this. Worried that Lily and I might be tempted by all the money and jewelry, he transferred all his assets into my name and sat beside me every day, keeping watch.
Sometimes I would sigh: “Liam, what about your company? Don’t you need to make money
anymore?”
Whenever this happened, Liam would look at me with puppy dog eyes.
“I’m afraid you and Lily might…”
I’d silence his nonsense with a kiss.
Finally, when the weather cleared, I dragged Liam to get our marriage license.
As we returned to the hotel to pack our things, we ran into Jackson in the lobby. He looked nothing like his former self, as if he’d been waiting specifically for me.

Chapter 11
When he saw the marriage certificate in our hands, he forced a smile that looked worse than crying.
“Mia, after all this time, I haven’t moved you even a little bit?”
He showed me a video about Vanessa.
After running from the castle that day, Vanessa had collapsed on the street. When she woke up, she
wasn’t quite right in the head.
Jackson didn’t know if she was faking it and didn’t care to deal with her anymore, so he sent her back to the Anderson family.
The Anderson fortune was now hanging by a thread. Mr. and Mrs. Anderson wanted the Harrison
family to help them out, but how could that happen?
Jackson despised Vanessa. He agreed that as long as they sent Vanessa and Emma far away, he
would ensure Mr. and Mrs. Anderson maintained a comfortable life–not homeless or drowning in
debt.
For their own sake, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson made the painful decision to marry Vanessa off to a foreigner with modest means and violent tendencies.
On her wedding day, Vanessa clung desperately to Jackson’s legs, reminiscing about their past.
But this time, Jackson showed no mercy.
And neither did I.
“Mia, does this make you feel any better?” Jackson looked at me pleadingly.
I shook my head. “Do you know how many times your daughter was rushed to the emergency room?
Do you know what you were doing when she went into anaphylactic shock?”
Jackson’s face turned pale, his lips trembling as he fell silent.
Later, Liam and I held our wedding by the sea, with our daughter as the flower girl.
On our way to the honeymoon suite, I overheard hotel staff saying, “Remember that Mr. Harrison who booked a room for a month? He’s in the hospital with anaphylactic shock! His assistant found him with his lips already turning purple. Who knows if he’ll make it!”
I froze for a moment, then turned and got into the wedding car without hesitation.

Chapter 11
Liam squeezed my hand. “Do you want to go see him?”
I shook my head.
“No. It has nothing to do with me.”
Right now, the most important thing was completing the final step of our wedding. Nothing was more important than pursuing my own happiness.
