A figure slowly emerged from the shadows behind my car.
Tall and imposing, it was Hunter Thorne.
Julian’s face changed dramatically when he saw him. “Hunter Thorne?! What are you doing here?!”
Hunter ignored him, walking directly to my car door, pulling it open, and extending his
hand to me.
“Get out.”
I almost instinctively placed my hand in his palm.
“Hunter Thorne, this is Sterling family business! I advise you not to meddle!”
“Sterling family business?” Hunter finally turned his gaze to Julian. “As far as I know, Miss Aurora’s surname is Sterling, but she’ll soon be a Thorne.”
He pulled me behind him, shielding me.

Julian’s face turned ashen.
The men in black behind him swarmed forward.
Hunter’s movements were like lightning–swift and decisive, every strike aimed at a vital
point.
In just a few minutes, all the men Julian had brought were writhing on the ground,
groaning in pain.
The syringe in Julian’s hand fell to the ground.
Hunter walked towards him, step by step.
“Go back and tell Robert Sterling, I’m taking his daughter.”
With that, he pulled me into his car, which had been parked in the shadows, and sped
away.
I secretly studied the man beside me.
“Why are you helping me?” I couldn’t help but ask.
He stared straight ahead, his voice flat.
“We have a common enemy.”
The enemy of my enemy is my friend.
“I need your help,” I stated my purpose. “I want you to marry me.”
He turned and glanced at me.
“Reason.”
“I want to break free from the Sterling family.” I met his gaze. “In exchange, the trust fund my mother left me can help you overcome your company’s difficulties.”
Just as I thought he would refuse, he suddenly spoke.

“Alright.”
Then, he added, “But I have a condition.”
