- 10.
It was Chloe.
I held the phone and walked to the floor–to–ceiling window.
“Where are you?” I asked.
“I… I’m on the hospital rooftop… Julian has gone mad… he’s going to kill me… Sister, please, hurry and save me!” Chloe’s voice was filled with fear and sobs.
The rooftop again.
In my previous life, she used a similar excuse to trick me into a deserted factory rooftop,
where I was then tortured to death by kidnappers who were already waiting there.
“Sister, do you hear me? Hurry! I’m so scared… Ah!”
A scream came from the other end of the phone, followed by the sound of a heavy object falling, and then the call was disconnected.
Hunter had somehow walked up behind me and gently wrapped an arm around my
shoulders.

“Want to go?” he asked.
I nodded.
When Hunter and I arrived at the hospital, the rooftop entrance had already been sealed off by the police.
Hunter made a call, and soon, a police officer who looked like a supervisor rushed over
and led us inside.
The rooftop was a mess.
Julian was pinned to the ground by several police officers, struggling like a madman, continuously yelling, “Kill her! I’m going to kill that b*tch!”
And Chloe lay not far away, covered in blood, her leg twisted at an unnatural angle.
She saw me and immediately reached out, weakly calling, “Sister… you finally came…”
Several medical personnel rushed up and lifted her onto a stretcher.
As she was carried past me, she grabbed my hand and whispered, “Aurora, as long as I’m alive, you’ll never have peace.”
I watched her being taken away, my face expressionless.
The supervising officer walked over and explained the situation to us.
“We received a report that someone was about to jump from here. When we arrived, we saw Mr. Hayes attempting to assault Miss Sterling. Fortunately, we arrived in time, otherwise the consequences would have been unthinkable.”
He paused, looking at me with some difficulty. “Miss Aurora, Miss Sterling is accusing you, saying that all of this was planned by you, that you intentionally lured Mr. Hayes here
to harm her.”
Before I could speak, Hunter coldly interrupted him.
<
“My people just bailed Julian out of detention twenty minutes ago. He couldn’t even find his way home. How exactly was he ‘lured‘ here?”
Hunter’s lawyer timely handed over a document.
“This is Mr. Hayes‘ bail document and his mental state evaluation report. The report shows that he suffered immense psychological trauma and his mental state has deteriorated. We have reason to suspect that someone deliberately exploited his mental instability to orchestrate this incident, intending to frame my client.”
The police officer looked at the document in his hand, his expression turning very ugly.
Just then, a young police officer ran over and whispered a few words in his ear.
The officer’s face instantly changed dramatically. He sharply looked up at us.
“We found this in the surveillance blind spot on the rooftop.”
He held up an evidence bag containing a broken phone.
On the phone screen, there was still an unsent text message.
“Person arrived, proceed.”
The recipient was Sierra Maxwell.
