Chapter 2
Watching the festivals today and swimming at the beach the day after tomorrow.
Lucia was in every carefully framed photo. The comment section was also very lively.
“Congratulations to the class monitor, you finally got together with the school beauty.”
“Lovers finally get married, I wish you all the best.”
“I said it before, you two are the most suitable.”
“Class monitor, when can I drink your wedding wine, we are so eager to wait.”

After returning home, I sat on the sofa and looked at the scorching sun outside the window and stayed quietly for the whole afternoon.
After dark, the sound of keys turning came from the entrance.
Lucia was back.
When she saw me on the sofa, she was slightly stunned.
“Gerald, it’s dark, why don’t you turn on the light?”
I looked up at her and said nothing.
Lucia took off her stilettos and sat down next to me.
“Why? Are you still angry with me?”
When she approached, I smelled the thick smoke and the smell of men’s perfume.
The beautiful red lips pressed against mine and I moved back half a body without making
a sound. Lucia was stunned.
In every quarrel in the past, no matter how angry I was, I couldn’t resist her tenderness and passionate kiss in the end.
But now, not only did I refuse, but she could also see boredom in my eyes.
Lucia frowned, “Gerald, how long are you going to make trouble? It’s a big holiday, I don’t want to quarrel with you.”
I pursed my lips and still didn’t speak.
Her expression eased a little, “On the Luminaria Festival, I didn’t do a good job of leaving you in the middle of the road. But John had a stomachache and I couldn’t just ignore him.
“And I said at the time that I would apologize to your mom in person. Just because of this little thing, you and your mom broke the appointment.”
“Do you know how long my parents prepared for this dinner? And how disappointed and angry they were when they knew you weren’t coming?”
“If John hadn’t tried his best to explain for you, our marriage would have been a failure long ago.”
Lucia took out a gold–stamped red card from her bag and placed it on the coffee table.

“My parents have arranged the engagement party, which will be held on the day of the Bloomhaven Festival. I will call your mom right now, I believe she will be very happy.”
I took a deep breath and tried to calm myself down, “There is no need for this, we have broken up. And she won’t answer your call.”
Lucia frowned again, “Gerald, you are an adult, can you stop being childish? Do you know how much your mom loves me and spoils me? She once said that she dreams of the day when I marry you. How could she not answer my call?”
Hearing this, my heart seemed to be grabbed by an invisible big hand and it hurt so much that I couldn’t breathe.
What Lucia said was right, my mother really loved her and spoiled her and had long regarded her as her daughter–in–law.
When she said she wanted to drink soup, my mother would get up at four or five in the morning and rush to the vegetable market to buy the freshest ingredients.
She thought the servants she hired didn’t clean well, so my mother came to help us clean on time every day, regardless of wind or rain.
I was not at home when she had a high fever. When my mother found out, she rushed to the hospital immediately. She almost fainted due to a heart attack because she was overworked after staying up all night.
After living together for seven years, my mother’s love for Lucia was no less than mine.
So when the Morgan Family invited her to have a New Year’s Eve dinner, she agreed without hesitation. In order to leave the best impression on her future in–laws, my mother started preparing early in the morning.
