Chapter 46
Aaron POV
I was angry with Vicky at school for insulting my wife. So I turned towards her to reject her instantly. However, the moment I looked into her eyes, I experienced a sudden emotional shift, like my feelings for her developed abruptly.
It seemed so out of character, but it was accompanied with a powerful surge of attraction. I felt like I was no longer in control of my emotions or decisions, and the unexplained feeling of attachment, rush of emotions, made me feel like I was in a whirlwind of passion. My world tilted and then started spinning wildly on its axis. And before I knew it, I was sitting next to her and talking to her about how I missed her the past few days.
My wolf clawed inside me all the time to be with Venus. I ignored him for long, but when I succumbed to his demands, I looked for Venus and she was
gone.
Now that I found her, I felt better. But when I saw Vicky striding towards me with anger on her face, unease crept up my spine. She was staring at me, and once again I felt drawn to her. My wolf, who had settled as soon as I had Venus in my arms, once again became restless. He wanted me to turn away from her and go back to my wife. This constant struggle between me and my wolf was becoming a fucking endless nightmare. How come my wolf and I were never on the same page about Vicky? I needed answers, and I needed them urgently.
“Aaron!” Vicky rushed to me. “Where did you go?”
I clenched my fists, struggling with the surge of attraction I felt for her. It felt like my soul was rubbed against a steel grater, but I had to put distance between us. “How did you know I was here?” I asked, my chest tightening with the internal struggle. This felt like a fucking heart attack into making.
Her lips down–turned. “Nathan posted a picture on social media of you kissing Venus in this match. How could you do this to me, Aaron? Just a few hours back, you were with me, telling me how much you missed me, and now kissed Venus? Do you get special satisfaction in killing my happiness?”
I summoned every bit of willpower I had, and pointed, “Vicky, I’m not sure what you expect of me? Venus is my wife and husband and wife can kiss each other. You and I can’t be together now. Whatever is between us needs to stop. My marriage is in doldrums and I don’t want it to crumble without even trying.” Goddess, the amount of resistance I was facing by my heart was excruciating. “Please leave. I don’t want Venus to see you with me.” A shudder ran down my body when Vicky’s eyes filled with tears.
She slapped her hand over her mouth. “Oh, my goddess!” she cried. “You have zero consideration for me, and I am foolishly in love with you. Do you know how much it hurts when you cheat on me–your mate?”
“Stop shouting,” I grated, scared that Venus might hear us.
“I won’t!” Vicky cried and before I could realize, she launched herself on me, hugging me tightly.
Just as my rotten luck would have it, I heard Venus gasp behind us. Somehow, I removed Vicky away from me, putting distance from her. “Venus-”
Her eyes turned moist. “You promised,” she whispered. “And you broke it.”
Fuck. The emotion Venus was experiencing cut right through my heart. The pain I felt for her was even more excruciating than what I felt for Vicky. “Venus, it’s not what it looks like.” I wanted to claw out my heart and give it to her.
“What do you mean?” Vicky cried. “It is exactly what it is. It is high time she understands the bond between us and gets out of our lives!”
Appalled by her words, ! glared at her and closed the distance between me and Venus. “I can explain,” I begged, trying to grab her hand.
Venus shook her head, putting her hands up. “You made a promise, but it seems like you never mean what you say. I can’t trust you anymore, and I don’t want to talk to you.”
From my peripheral, I saw Nathan and the redhead walking towards us. And strangely, Nathan had this repulsive look in his eyes when he saw Vicky.
The redhead went to Venus and whispered, “Let’s go.”
Agitated, I growled, “Who the fuck are you to take her away?”

Nathan interrupted angrily. “Aaron, this is Ginger, my mate, so treat her with respect.”
I jerked my head back in surprise. “Your mate?”
Nathan nodded, a look of pride on his face, making me jealous.
Vicky rolled her eyes and examined her perfectly manicured nails, completely unfazed by the chaos she had stirred.
Ginger gave me a tight smile. Holding Venus’s hand, she walked away from there.
I stabbed my fingers in my hair, watching her leave. “Fuck! I can’t believe it!” I roared. “What the fuck were you thinking, Vicky?”

She started crying. “I was thinking about us. About how we reconnected and my stepsister ruined us all over again. I want you back, but you’ve managed to kill me bit by bit. Can’t you see I love you more than her?”
I should’ve gotten over Vicky from the start. I ran after Venus. “Venus, stop!”
Vicky ran after me. “She is going away from you. Isn’t it clear that she hates you? When will you understand this? I am the one who keeps coming after you and yet you chase Venus.”
Furious as hell, I turned and shouted, “You are the reason Venus is leaving! And I know you are creating a misunderstanding between us on purpose!”
“What?” she cried. “Are you even hearing yourself? If Venus doesn’t like you, why are you blaming me? While she is willing to let you go, I will continue to come after you because I am desperate for your love.”
I let out a frustrated roar and rushed towards Venus. But she was already in Nathan’s car, which was speeding away. Fuck. Enraged, I punched a wall in front of me, making a dent in it. I knew it would be tough to get Venus to talk to me this time.
“Aaron!” Eric came to me, panting, with an urgent look on his face. “Father wants us.” He lowered his voice. “Patrick is missing.”
