Chapter 133

Gregory’s expression shifted in an instant. Reaching out, he slid his arm around her waist, catching her before she could collapse

Anathea completely lost her strengthher whole body just gave out. She couldn’t even stand

Gregory frowned and lifted her into his arms

Everyone else in the room looked stunned. This wasn’t what they’d expected. Wasn’t Gregory supposed to be here to settle the score with Anathea

Then, why…

Sensing the curious looks being thrown his way, Gregory shot them a cold glance and asked flatly, Where’s the lounge? They snapped out of it and quickly led the way

As Gregory held Anathea in his arms, he could feel just how light she really was. Her waist was so small it barely spanned the width of his hand, and even through the fabric of her clothes, he could feel the sharp outline of her bones

His frown deepened

Anathea didn’t resist. She didn’t have the strength to. She hadn’t eaten or drunk anything since Fiona had been taken in for surgery that morning. It had been hours. Her lips were dry and cracked

Gregory gently laid her on the couch and immediately told someone to get water and a first aid kit. Then, he crouched in front of her and took her hand, cleaning up the wounds on the back of it

The second the disinfectant hit her skin, Anathea winced in pain. Ah”

She tried to pull her hand back, but Gregory held her wrist firmly in place. Hold still.”

She bit her lip, staying silent

It wasn’t until he finished bandaging the back of her hand that he noticed her palm was in even worse shape

Even though the wound had already been treated in the hospital, the blood had still seeped through and stained the white gauze

red

How did you end up like this?Gregory asked, his voice rising before he realized it. There was a tight, restless feeling in his chest, something he couldn’t quite explain

Anathea flinched, her fingers curling slightly, almost touching the raw wound on her palm

Gregory quickly caught her hand again, his palm warm around her fingers. She blinked, and something unreadable flickered in

her eyes

Don’t move,he uttered firmly

Whatever emotion had flashed across her face disappeared instantly. Her eyes went blank again

Gregory was never the patient type when it came to her. She had no idea why he was even bothering to take care of her wounds. Maybe he just felt sorry for her

After wrapping the bandage, he tied it off with a knot. Done.”

Anathea slowly pulled her hand back and looked at him anxiously she was waiting to hear how he was going to deal with her

After all, she’d injured Natalie’s face

But Gregory didn’t say anything. He stood up and walked out, speaking with the police officers nearby

Anathea looked at his tall, straight figure standing outside the room. He seemed so composed and cold. That air about him made it hard for anyone to even think about approaching him

He was probably telling them what to do with her. Was he arranging for her to be detained or figuring out some other punishment

She lowered her gaze to her bandaged hand. Whatever it was, she could handle it now that she knew Fiona was alright. Still, if they locked her up, she might not have enough time to deal with everything

Anathea rested her hand over her stomach gently

About ten minutes later, Gregory came back in. She quickly dropped her hand and looked up, pressing her lips together nervously

Let’s go,said Gregory

Anathea blinked, startled. Was he saying she could leave

When she didn’t move, Gregory raised an eyebrow. What? Want me to carry you again?”

Of course Anathea didn’t want that. She pushed herself up, wobbling as she walked over to him. She looked as though she might fall at any moment

Gregory stared at her for a second. Without another word, he swept her up into his arms and strode out the door
