Chapter42
“I’m getting old, so I just take it one day at a time,” Dillan chuckled, looking at Julissa with a kind expression. “So, did that little rascal Reece bully you?”
Without waiting for Julissa to answer, Recce and Cristina had already walked in.
“Grandpa,” Reece greeted respectfully.
Cristina walked arm in arm with Reece. Today she was wearing a simple white dress, with hand–embroidered patterns on the shoulders, which was conservative yet not overly rigid.
Although feeling uncomfortable watching Julissa and Dillan chatting and laughing, she still carried herself gracefully and elegantly.
Now let her laugh, there will be a good show to watch later.
“Grandpa,” Cristina took a step forward, politely bowing her head, “I am Cristina.”
Dillan’s face instantly turned cold and stern.
“Why bring a stranger to the Diaz family’s dinner party?!”
He was about to kick Cristina out.
“Grandpa,” Reece’s face looked a little unpleasant, “Cristina just came to see you, with no other intentions.”
“Hmm.”
Reece’s words made Dillan even angrier, “Julie is already pregna

and you still dare to have any involvement with this woman?! If you don’t want to make me furious, then get rid of her right away!”
The more Dillan protected Julissa, the more unsettled Julissa felt.
“Pregnant?”
Cristina slowly raised her eyes, looked at Julissa contemptuously, and then opened her mouth in an incredulous manner, saying, “Grandpa, don’t you know yet? The news about Ms. Rivera being pregnant is fake. I came today because I was afraid you would be too angry, so I wanted to help Reece persuade you…”
“Fake?” Dillan frowned, hesitant but unwilling to believe Cristina’s words. “Nonsense, the Diaz family doesn’t welcome you, so leave quickly.”
“Cristina was telling the truth,” Reece stood up, naturally pulling Cristina behind him to protect her. “The pregnancy of Julissa is fake, using the Diaz family’s reputation to gain everyone’s sympathy is the real truth.”
When these words came out, Dillan’s eyes were filled with disbelief.
He had always loved Julissa and knew even more that she had not been happy in the Diaz family all these years, but now…
He still looked at Julissa with a glimmer of hope.
“Was what they said true?”
Thousands of kinds of painful emotions churned in Julissa’s heart, Reece’s attitude towards her no longer mattered, but now her grandfather’s disappointment made Julissa even sadder.
“Grandpa, I really wasn’t pregnant,” Julissa explained in a low voice. “But I didn’t use the Diaz family’s reputation to gain sympathy, th

news of the pregnancy didn’t come from me.”
“But the things posted on the internet, so detailed, many details are only known to you and Recce, not you…” Cristina’s gentle voice
sounded, but everywhere she was pointing the finger at Julissa: “Could it be Reece…”
“This is the Diaz’s mansion,” Dillan coldly reminded, “It’s not your turn as an outsider to interrupt!”
Cristina was killed, although she felt unwilling, but at this moment Julissa’s situation made her suddenly clear.
Dillan now favors Julissa, it’s nothing but a matter of saving face. Wait until Julissa is completely kicked out, and see who will still speak up for her!
“Julie, is it true that you were pregnant?”
Julissa dared not look up, she had disappointed the old man’s affection.
“It was fake.”

Dillan’s smile froze on his face, and his gaze slowly dropped. “Julie, you know that by doing this, you have violated the Diaz family’s rules and will be punished.”
Dillan spent his whole life working for the Diaz family, and their authority meant everything to him.
Even though he was impatient in his heart, he still called her “Julie” on the surface.
But this will only make Julissa feel even worse.
“I’m sorry, Grandpa, I let you down.”

“Bring me the ruler.”
Although he was reluctant in his heart, the Diaz family’s rules were unbreakable, and the established rules were unlikely to change just because he was momentarily soft–hearted,
The Diaz family’s ruler was custom–made from a special material, with densely engraved words on it, all of which were rules set by the Diaz family over the years.
This ruler has been with Dillan for decades, its wooden surface worn smooth and shiny.
“Broke the Diaz family rules, first punished with a ruler to clean up their mind, then whipped to sharpen their memory, and finally bathed in cold water to reshape their mindset.”
Last time it was fifteen–year–old Reece who was subjected to family discipline.
At the moment when the ruler was taken out, a hint of hesitation flashed in Reece’s ink–black pupils.
Only those who have experienced it understand how cruel it is.
Equivalent to breaking a person’s spirit, and reshaping the mind.
Julissa reached out her hand, not knowing how strict the Diaz family’s rules were, just wanting to get it over with.
