Chapter 24
News of a commercial airliner from Nord City to Branada crashing after being struck by lightning spread across the world. All 163 passengers aboard perished, leaving no survivors.
Isabel happened to receive a video from one of her college mates when she saw the news of the crashed flight. She had no idea Felix was on it, so she closed the article and played the video.
In it, Felix and Linda bowed and talked about how they’d misunderstood Isabel after being tricked by a manipulative impostor. They also made it clear that Isabel had never hurt anyone or cheated on exams. Most importantly, she hadn’t committed plagiarism. She was a hardworking, kind, and sincere young woman.
Isabel’s college mate bombarded her with messages. “Does this make you feel vindicated, Izzy? It’s a shame, really. They were tricked, too. It’s all that fake Winifred’s fault.
“Everyone on campus is talking about this, and they all know that you’re innocent now. They want to apologize to you for the things they once said.” Isabel typed, “It’s all in the past now. Let’s leave it there.”
Despite her words, she still felt bitter. The pain and agony she’d experienced were still as vivid as if they’d happened the day before. No matter how magnanimous she was, there was no way she could truly forgive the Court family. Perhaps it was best for them never to see each other again.
In the garden, Tyler checked his phone before looking at Isabel, who was inside the house. “Should I tell Belle that the Court fellow was on the crashed flight?”
Helena shook her head. “That’s not necessary. Everything that happened between them is in the past now. She doesn’t need to know.”
Meanwhile, in a hospital halfway across the planet, Linda stared at her ward door from day to night. She waited expectantly for Felix to show Isabel
Just then, her phone rang. She answered it, only to hear the solemn voice of an airline company’s staff member. “Ma’am, your son, Felix Court, has passed away in a plane crash…”

Linda couldn’t believe her ears. Her voice shook as she asked the staff member to repeat herself. After a moment, she shrieked, “My son!” The heart monitor began blaring urgent alarms, and doctors and nurses bolted to the ward. “The patient has fainted from emotional distress! Take her to the emergency room pronto!”
The airline company arranged for a funeral to be held for Felix, and only a few people attended.
Kendall was one of them. He strode into the funeral parlor dressed in all black, his emotions churning as he looked at Felix’s familiar face in black and white.
He’d been having nightmares recently. In them, he saw Isabel, Felix, Gordon, and Linda. Once upon a time, he’d thought of them as his closest friends and family. However, everything had changed now.
The Court family’s company had gone bankrupt, and Gordon had been sentenced to five years‘ imprisonment for intentional assault.
Felix had died without even leaving a corpse behind, and Linda had gone insane because she couldn’t accept his death.
Kendall felt like this was all karma. They had once forced Isabel down the path of no return she’d climbed onto the hospital’s rooftop, wanting to leap off to end her young life.
Now, the people who had hurt her were being punished one after another.
Kendall didn’t know whether he was next. He was a little scared and anxious, but he was more regretful than anything else.
