Vicky POV
Like a hard block of ice, dread plummeted in my gut. I don’t know how, but Aaron looked like he wasn’t under my control. I stared at him with unde eyes, and said, “Aaron, you have to stop this. My mother is unwell.” When he narrowed his eyes at me, showing no signs of being affected by my spelf, I strade to him, clutched his shoulders and demanded. “Look at me, Aaron. Look into my eyes! Stop your father!”
With a snarl, he pushed me away, unaffected. “Don’t touch me!”
Disbelief slammed in my chest at his reaction. I fell on the ground with my hair curtaining my face. What was happening? Father had poured three drops each in my eyes, which meant the spell was thrice as powerful. Then how come it wasn’t affecting Aaron?
Mom was on the ground, on her hands and legs, trembling. Tears streamed out of her eyes as she struggled to resist the command of Patrick and Alpha
Martin.
“Mom!” I whimpered as I crawled to her.
She was coated with sweat and was shaking uncontrollably. Her skin was ashen white, her lips dry. “Run, Vicky, run,” she whispered.
“No,” I whimpered. “No!” I looked at Patrick. “Please father, why are you torturing her? She isn’t well. Don’t ask her to shift. Damn it. If she shifted, our true identity would be revealed. And why wasn’t my love spell working? Everything was extremely confusing.
All of a sudden, from the corner of my
Venus emerging from the woods. To my utter shock, with her eyes fixed on me, she came to stand next to
Aaron, who curled his arm around her waist and pulled her close to him. My jaw dropped in shock. “You!” Irasped.
She chuckled. “Surprised to see me, Vicky,” she said. “But you should be more surprised to see that your spell isn’t working on Aaron.”
I froze to my spot as my heart galloped with a need to flee. “Wh–what spell? What nonsense are you talking about?” I said, crawling away from her, trying to put distance.
So this was all a plan. Aaron saying that Venus wanted a divorce was nothing but a drama in front of me. How was it I didn’t realize Aaron’s plan?
“Shift!” Alpha Martin shouted at my mom again, momentarily snagging my gaze at him.
Mom crawled away from him, whimpering and resisting. The command was too powerful, and she was not only weak as a fox but also because Danny
had beaten her.
“Aaron!” I shouted in a last ditch effort. “This is Venus written all over! Can’t you see her jealousy now that we’re coming together? Please stop everyone. How can you betray me? I am your mate,” I cried. “It hurts a lot. Ahh!” I faked the pain by touching my chest.
“Really?” he hissed. “You are my mate?” When I nodded, he turned to Venus and captured her lips in a sizzling kiss. I stared at them with wide eyes, my eyebrows shooting to the hairline. He pulled away and said, “When I kissed you or even touched you, Venus suffered from intense pain. She would often cry because her stomach or chest would hurt. Why didn’t I see that in you? Why was it you were always a picture of health when Venus was always a picture of misery?”
“You are doubting me?” I cried. “I am in so much pain right now. Stop it! Ahhh!” I rubbed
my
chest.
“Shift!” Patrick shouted at my mom. Her resistance was teetering on the edge. She turned and vomited on the ground.
“Please don’t–do it,” I cried. “Aaron, look into my eyes. You will see that I love you and that I am your mate,” I urged him, blinking my eyes, hoping to shake the bloody love spell.
“Look into your eyes?” Aaron sneered. “So that you can put me under your spell?”
My mind went numb. “The—there’s no spell.”
“Oh, cut the crap!” Venus snapped. “I know what you are doing, Vicky. You were using a love spell on Aaron.”

“I’m not!” I squeaked.
She continued, “When he got the headache in front of me, I took him to the hospital. The doctor found that someone was poisoning him with love spell. Do you know how many blood transfusions he received to clean his blood? That was the ordeal you had put him into just to control him
“I would never do that! What are you even saying?” I shouted. How did she know I was behind it?

I suspected that someone close was involved in poisoning Aaron, but i was sure that someone very close was involved in poisoning both Aaron and daddy when I saw a witch circle outside the pack’s territory. And who could be closer to both of them? Who would benefit by poisoning them?”
“And you assumed it was me?” I shouted. “You bitch! It is you, not me.” Before I knew it, she stepped forward and slapped across my cheek. I shrieked, pain stinging as I fell to the ground.
“Alpha Martin had sent his spies everywhere to sniff out the witches selling potions in the black market. But there was none. Not a single witch is selling these potions in the black market because Queen Ketari is too strict and swoops down on such witches. She is protecting her own kind by taking strict actions. But-“Venus drew in a ragged breath. “There’s a coven which went rogue–the Infinity coven. And the witch circle outside of Oak Pride’s territory reeked of magic from that coven.”
Shit. Fuck. Shit. Carefully, I scrambled away from her, my eyes darting to the exit points. I opened my mind link with Danny, hoping he was near.
“And guess what?” Venus continued. “That identical smell came from my father, which meant that a witch from the Infinity coven cast a spell on him.” She threw the potion bottle in front of me. “The same magical smell permeates these bottles.”
My pulse quickened. How did she know about it? “Whatever you are saying is absurd,” I said in a raspy voice. “I am not involved in any of this witch stuff. You can’t prove I was the one using magic potions on Aaron. He is my mate, and you are accusing me and framing me in this heinous crime out of spite. You are so fucking jealous of our bond that you want him for yourself!”
She gave me a pitiful look. “I am not accusing you. I’ve got evidence. Yesterday, Queen Ketari came to meet us.”
My senses drifted like leaves caught in a storm. “Q–Queen Ketari?”
