Chapter 58
Aaron POV
Venus was curled up against me, but I was having problems sleeping. So I watched her sleeping as I stroked her hair, her soft skin, kissing now and then Finally, cradled my head on my crossed arms and started thinking of everything that had happened in the last few months. There had to be a clue. somewhere that could lead me to Vicky. I promised myself that even she was in the depths of hell, I would pull her out and make sure to torture her every fucking day, until she begged me to kill her. But I won’t kill her.
My phone chimed, and I picked it up to see that Nathan and sent a message.
There’s a lead on the outskirts on the east. You should come and see.
Revenge fueled my excitement. Carefully, I got up, covered Venus and dressed in jeans and a polo before getting out of the room. I padded my way out not to wake up anyone else.
Nathan and I had been working on it ever since Vicky had left. It had been a few days, but I knew Nathan was just as pissed as me. He was sure that Vicky had used her spell on him as well, but he considered himself lucky that she focused entirely on me and so he recognized his mate. Bugger.
Standing with a group of warriors, Nathan was examining a spot when I stopped my jeep a few meters away from the location he had indicated. I jumped out of the jeep and rushed to them. “Did you find anything?” I asked.
Nathan nodded. “We were waiting for you. The night patrol has found another witch circle, but it is a smaller one. Like some novice witch tried to cast a spell, or she is learning.” He pointed to a dense bush. “It is right behind it. Let’s take a look.”

Along with the warriors who surrounded us on all sides, we padded our way to the bush. It was dark in the night, with the moon hanging high in the sky. Other than that, there was no light, but because of our enhanced visions, we could easily see what was there. We circled the bush and came across a puddle that was surrounded with wildflowers, and touching the puddle was the witch circle. It seemed like it was formed only a few hours ago. The candles inside it had burned to the ground and snuffed out.
I sniffed the air, now pretty acquainted with the smell of magic. There was a faint smell, but nothing that could indicate that a powerful spell was in the
making.
“What is the update from Queen Ketari?” I asked as I crouched on the ground and examined the circle.
“She is on to catching the rogue witches. They have escaped from where she thought they were, but Beta Jacob updated me that she knew where they were hiding,” Nathan responded.
“That means that this witch circle wasn’t created by the witches. It was created by-” I gathered some dust inside the circle and sniffed it, getting up. Circling the puddle, I walked deeper towards the forest. “I think it was created by a young witch who is still learning magic. Or by someone who wants to
learn it.” Nathan followed me with others.
All of a sudden, a high–pitched, piercing shriek sounded behind us. I whipped my head back and saw that one of my warriors was struggling to pull his leg from the puddle. His left leg was sinking inside it. A black and grey tentacle wrapped around his leg, pulling him down. “Fuck!” I growled as we all
rushed to him.
“Take me out! Ah!” he said, looking panicky and terrified. “What is this?”
Petrified, I stared at the thick, octopus–like tentacle. It had emerged from the puddle like it was some creature from hell. It was weird seeing it because we never had those creatures in this part of the forest.
“Hold him!” I ordered my wolves. They caught him by his arms and torso and pulled him out, which was proving to be quite an effort. The thick tentacle slithered higher towards his thigh. I took out my silver knife and slashed the fucking tentacle. It hissed and writhed and lashed at me. I dodged it and cut it again near the base. Nathan joined me and plunged his knife deep into its flesh. It loosened its hold on my warrior and, taking the opportunity, I slashed it right across in the center. Whatever creature was attached to it hissed and shrieked and retreated in the puddle. My warriors pulled him out and dragged him away.
“Fuck! What the fuck was that?” I asked as I stared at the retreating thing. The puddle bubbled and frothed and then became silent, like nothing happened. “Cover it with mud!” I ordered. Panting, I got up, brushing the blade of my knife on my jeans.

Nathan pulled me away from there as others started covering it with mad. “Man, that was weird es war be ranged
in all probability, this was magic!” I grunted. The fucking thing resembled a landmine that homans und “W” (artland keep away your enemy or to hide and discourage others from entering your area,
“What is it?” Nathan asked, examining if I was fine.
I narrowed my eyes at the puddle. “I think there are more such in the area, and they might lead us
is to the enemy
Náthan raised an eyebrow. “Would you care to explain?”
Excited, I said, “Let’s go back! I have to talk to my father.”
When we returned, it was already dawn. Venus was sitting in the main hall in her robe, looking panicky “haront the pumped up and red to me, hugging me tightly. “Where were you?” she asked, her voice laced with so much concern that it warmed my heart.
“On an errand,” I replied, opening my mind link with Nathan to warn him not to tell her anything. She had faced her quota of miseries You & med was to give her love. Lots of it. “The usual,” I said, lifting her in my arms.
Nathan chuckled and left as I took my wife back to our room. She was clinging to me like a koala, her hands in my hair. “Next time, just let me know okay? I was worried!” she chided.
I chuckled. She was so sweet. “I will, and I’m sorry.”
Her anger melted, and she buried her face in the crook of my neck. I carried her to the bed and made her lie down. “You need to sleep,” I said, because knew that she had woken up after I left and hadn’t slept. The dark circles under her eyes told me that.
“Sleep with me,” she urged. How could I resist? I opened my jeans and shirt and slipped beside her in my boxers.
The first thing I did when I woke up in the morning was report to my father.
“I think it is time that we talk to our allies!” he replied.
When I went back upstairs, I saw Venus getting ready to go somewhere. “Where are you going?” I asked.
She wore her earrings, looking at her reflection in the mirror. “To visit daddy.”
