Chapter 62
Aaron POV
“How did you know I was here?” Vicky asked, her eyes darting to my warriors.
Nathan was standing right behind me, growling, like he would attack her in an instant. He was waiting for my orders, and through our pack bond, I knew he was holding himself. When Nathan and I discussed Vicky’s love spell, he said that he had the same symptoms. I took him to the doctor and got his blood tested. He too had the same toxin but in lower quantity. He had to undergo the same treatment as mine, and so his hatred for Vicky was just as strong.
My eyes went to Goldenseal that was filled in her basket. “Why do you need Goldenseal?” I asked as I took out her notebook and tossed it in front of her.
She clenched her jaw as her eyes went to the notebook. She flinched, stumbling back. Her blood drained from her face. “This–how did you get this?”
“No, the better question would be – what will happen to you now?” I hissed. “Your game is over, Vicky.”
She spun to run away, but my warriors surrounded her and closed in on her, making her retreat. She was gasping, panicky as hell. Turning to look at me, she said, “Please Aaron.” Her eyes welled up with tears. “I was doing this on my father’s orders. Nothing personal.”
The rage that I was holding on, spilled like hot lava. I struck her tight on her face. She screamed, falling to the floor. “Aaron, please!” she started crying, “I am just a pawn.”
“A fucking pawn who had a choice,” I growled. “Get him!” I ordered my warriors without lifting my gaze from her.
My warriors got the beta of the foxes. The bastard was found spying on Vicky. He was in the shadows as she plucked Goldenseal from the barks of the trees. He was so invested in spying on her he didn’t notice us. Despite his effort to flee, he was apprehended by my warriors, and before I realized it, I had attacked him relentlessly. No one had the guts to stop me. Right now, he looked like a pulp of flesh.
Vicky shrieked, staring at him, and scurried back. “How?” she squeaked.
I grabbed that fox’s collar and snarled, “Tell her what you told us.”
The beta was panting and gasping for air. His one eye was shut and blood was flowing out of him from various places. “She-” He wheezed. “She wanted you. Her father-” he whispered. “Once he asked her to go to you, she wanted to control you because she wanted your wealth and-”
“He’s lying!” Vicky yelled.
“Take her!” I hissed an order, not wanting to hear a word from her filthy mouth. Had it not been for Venus’s discovery, we would have never found her. We had gone to their previous hideout, but it was dotted with magical landmines. Still, we dodged them and when we arrived there, we saw it was deserted. The only other place where we thought they would go was where we were standing. Vicky was dying to get Goldenseal because she had a hidden agenda. She wanted to kill her pack’s people, run away to my pack and come out clean. Then she would have used the herb all over again to control me.
“No, no,” she cried as my warriors picked her up. “Aaron, this is madness. It was my father!”
“Shut the fuck up!” I shouted. “Your father’s beta has revealed it all,” I scoffed. “And you thought you were one step ahead of them.”
Vicky’s eyes snapped to the beta who appeared like he would collapse anytime. “Check this area!” I ordered my warriors. “The fox shifters must be around. Kill them the moment you see them.”
The beta started laughing. And I knew why. He must have already mind–linked his people to leave. But I still wanted to take this chance. Nathan glowered at Vicky as she was being carmed to the car. “Tie her up!” he shouted, his fists clenched hard. “And if she shouts, gag her.”
“Please, no. Please, Aaron,” she begged. “He is lying. I had no such intentions.”
“Do I look like I care?” I snarled at her, my wolf wanting to come out and shred her into pieces. Finally, we had captured Vicky.
Chapter 62
Without delay, my warriors tied her up and threw her in the trunk of my car. “Stay with her, Nathan,” I said as I rushed to where my warriors had gone to find the other foxes. We sniffed the air, but it was so heavy with the smell of wet earth and forest that other scents were washed–out.
We gave up after two hours and returned to our vehicles. My phone buzzed and when I took it out, I saw Venus’s name lighting on it. I hadn’t get her with me because I didn’t want her to get injured. My protective feelings about her were at a primal level. “Venus?” I breathed.
“Aaron, are you okay?” she asked, concern laced in her voice.
“Yes, baby, I am,” I assured her. “Stop being so worried about me.”
“When will you return?” she breathed.
“Soon.” I disconnected the call and tipped my head up to inhale deeply. Her voice was enough to calm my raging mind. “Everyone!” I shouted. “We’re going back.” Yes, you can call me whipped worse than cream.
Though my wolf wanted to kill Vicky right there, I had to rein him in. We needed all the information she and that beta could provide us with. When I arrived home, I found Venus pacing the room. As soon as she saw me, she jumped at me and I had to catch her. She clung to me like a koala, peppering kisses. “Are you okay?” she asked in between her kisses.
Goddess. I loved her so much. “I am. Now…” I murmured, reveling in her kisses.
When she pulled away, she asked, “Where’s Vicky?”
“In dungeons. With her mother.” I had made sure that I drove the car roughly enough so that she got tossed around in the trunk. I had personally thrown her in the dungeons and got her shackled with the chains. The look on her face was priceless when I told her I was going to visit her every fucking day to
torture her.
